This may have been a fine novel unfortunately I will ever know. The narration was so poor that I could only pick up 50% of the dialogue. This type of gross inadequacy should result in a refund.
I am tired of paying for books that are supposed to be mysteries but turnout to be political positions. This is the case with Stolen Season. Throughout the book the evils of hand guns is pushed. The ending of the book could be a speech given by the anti-gun lobby president.
Dust off your Ph. D. in chemistry if you purchase this book. The book is not for your average reader or even readers with advance degrees unless they are in the sciences. Please do not spend money on a book that, although well written, is outside the knowledge boundaries of most people. On the other hand, if this is your area of expertise then go ahead and give it a go.
If you want the freedom to protect yourself this is not the book for you. It is simply a book that recommends that we abolish the 2nd amendment
write a real novel. How about a plot, characters and a story line.
Narrator was fine.
This was an expensive construction manual. There is no story or characters. The premise sounds interesting but that is all. If you want to read how to build a fortress this is your book otherwise buy a real novel.
Could not get through an hour. This book should have been in romance section.
The reading was fine and I believe this is one of those choices where I bear the burden. I was looking for an abc book on Zen and this tomb exceeded was a little above my expectations
Should have been placed in the comedy section. A series of slightly funny stories does not a mystery make.
Although the narrator is quite eloquent his unexpected changes to an African American accent are disconcerting. I do not mean slang, the diction is fine, I mean minor variations such as vowel lowering, consonant clusters, etc. that would lead one to believe that an African American was speaking. It is only mildly disturbing but does have an impact on the novel. At one point you think the lead character is African American and at other times you don't. It is not restricted to the lead but moves in and out of various characters at no particular time.
The novel was excellent and I will purchase other novels by R.J. Ellory.
If I wanted to listen to leftist rhetoric I could watch one of Obama's speeches on television
