Could not finish this drivel, this is some low grade, zombie boredom. I kept giving this book the "just one more chapter..." hope, but finally gave up at chapter 21. I got sucked in by all the five star reviews. I hope the movie is better, or is this whole title all a big marketing scam? Book = returned
The core story I really enjoyed. Military facts etc. were also very interesting. I'm glad I bought the book, as I enjoy this subject. However the audiobook is not without flaws. This book is read by a speaker that is attempting to impersonate the "coolest man in the world", and this is irritating. The book itself leans heavily towards glorifying war, lots of lines in the book that basically pound in the idea that soldiers love War, their Wife's and Kids and the USA. Which I'm sure is 100% true but don't pound it into me. The history is great and I still recommend the book, but it is no Charlie Wilson's War and I wish it was of the same caliber.
I've never been a Duran Duran fan and I'm not sure why I even gave the book a try. Well I'm glad I did, I really enjoyed the book, I like John Taylor's style of writing and obvious honesty. The book helped me understand the 80's english music invasion and gave me a good appreciation for the key members of the group. JT did a great job reading, the best read by an author I've so far encountered.
best T. Coraghessan Boyle book ever written :-) No seriously amazing! This book is not only for women, although I see it in book stores in the "for Women sections". This is one of the best books I've read period! Excellent narration Mr Ballerini
The story was interesting but not without plausability issues. But I do like the authors way of writing and of course pirate books are a fun subject.
a must read for all Americans and Canadians also. Just as good as Bossy Pants ;-) Loved it. Please make the next book 16 hours long. Well read, well written and nicely paced. Clean sweep 5 star rating is warranted!
Just as well written as the Traveller, it is a must read as the second in the series. My only complaint is that it ended so abruptly. It was as if the writer was on a dead line, so he wrapped it up and rolled the credits 20 pages too soon. I generally don't agree with most of the negative comments on the book. The first book developed most of the characters, this one does not have to focus as much on development of the core characters.
As always John Stewart and crew were hilarious. Must read for all people that live in North America.
