The Price family has spent generations studying the monsters of the world, working to protect them from humanity - and humanity from them. Enter Verity Price. Despite being trained from birth as a cryptozoologist, she'd rather dance a tango than tangle with a demon, and is spending a year in Manhattan while she pursues her career in professional ballroom dance. Sounds pretty simple, right?

While this story is interesting and enjoyable, I feel an obligation to share that "there be mice" lots and lots of mice. Since I am one of those who has a rodent phobia, discovering that the heroine shares her living space with a colony of mice was off putting to say the least. I almost stopped listening. Thankfully I came back to the story and pushed through. In all honesty, the mice were more the mickey type than the horror story, attack the human type.

I enjoy this genre of books. Being an avid reader all my life, I have transferred this same enthusiasm to listening. I have been through many series and am constantly looking for new. What I liked the best about this book is the more human qualities the supernaturals are given. It is a different approach than all the "kill the bad" that many authors take. The snark wasn't bad either.

This wasn't the best series I've experienced but is was enjoyable and I think well worth the credit. Good start. Now I'm interested in seeing where this goes.

With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends. Ireland. County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations - and where her destiny awaits.

When the dust clears, he finds two skeletons wrapped in plastic behind it. The man is Lieutenant Eve Dallas’s billionaire husband, Roarke, and he summons her immediately. His latest real estate project is going to be on hold for a while, because by the time Eve and her crew are finished searching the premises, there are 12 murders to be solved.

Eve, Rourke, and gang just keep getting better and better. I was VERY thrilled to have Mavis back in the mix. I have missed her and it was great to get some back story on her. Did miss Feeney and Peabody's main squeeze though. I've always enjoyed all of the interactions of main cast; however, I suppose, it's just like life that the relationships and envolvements in cases ebb and flow.

FBI Special Agent Kate O’Hare is known for her fierce dedication and discipline on the job, chasing down the world’s most wanted criminals and putting them behind bars. Her boss thinks she is tenacious and ambitious; her friends think she is tough, stubborn, and maybe even a bit obsessed. And while Kate has made quite a name for herself for the past five years the only name she’s cared about is Nicolas Fox - an international crook she wants in more ways than one.

I know this is a new series and, as such, will develop over time but I was disappointed on many levels. First of all, it was a hard listen. Scott Brick's delivery seemed flat. There wasn't much change between characters. More of a straight "read" than performance. If the story hadn't been interesting I would have given up. As for the story, because it was such a unique storyline, it kept my interest; however, put all thoughts of Stephanie Plumb and her antics out of your mind. There is no comparison. The out loud laughter factor that I always find with Stephanie is nonexistent and Nick is no Ranger!!!!

All of that said, the book is about cons and is written with creativity. I do give the ending two stars though. It was rushed and very flat. It would be a five star series with a couple of changes. A new narrator and better endings. The narrator should be one who can infuse the characters with personalities and identities. As for the endings? Continue to write with the same imagination and creativity that got us to that spot in the first place.

The beautiful Tanda wants the Trophy - and it's up to Skeeve to get it for her. The problem is, getting it will take more than luck. It will take all Skeeve's unproven magical talents, a scaly but clever Pervect, and a charming demon not above a little interdimensional thievery.

The trophy goes to Asprin and Levine. Another excellent addition to this series. Asprin writes a witty story and Levine's delivery is unsurpassed.

Almost all of the gang is back and we meet a few new ones. All come together to play in the championship game to rescue Tanda and keep the trophy that she set out to steal and ended up captured for her efforts. This all takes place on the dimension of Jock that includes the towns of Vegas and Tahoe. It's a rollicking good story full of twists and turns and surprises.

It begins with a dead body at the far end of Baker Street tube station, all that remains of American exchange student James Gallagher - and the victim's wealthy, politically powerful family is understandably eager to get to the bottom of the gruesome murder. The trouble is, the bottom - if it exists at all - is deeper and more unnatural than anyone suspects...except, that is, for London constable and sorcerer's apprentice Peter Grant.

Unfortunately this book in the series didn't grab me like the previous ones. The performance was on par with previous installments; however, the story seemed to drag and, to be honest, I did not enjoy the chapters that took place in the sewers. Yes, the author wrote the chapters in such away as to be tolerable but I just wish he had taken a different direction and kept the story out of the pig excrement. Having lived on a farm, I know exactly how bad pigs can smell..not good!

I will listen to the next book. I have faith that this series will continue survive and continue to give me enjoyment.

What else can I say.....I love this series. The way Craig continues each book where the last left off (kinda) really appeals to me. Each book builds on the last and really fleshs out the characters. I usually finish one and move to the next. Spend your credits on this series and sit back and enjoy. You are in for a treat.

I usually don't like books set in fictional worlds so what a pleasant surprise to find that I really enjoyed this one. I am excited to find another series for me. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the length. Most of my credits are used for 7 plus hours because I want to get the most listen for my credits that I can; however, I will purchase these books no matter the length.

I like the author's writing style and use of humor. Many times I laughed out loud. Skeeve and Oz develop a relationship as the book progresses that is a combination of friend, mentor, and family-like. As for the strange creatures and environments, both the author and narrator deliver in such a way that it is easy to visualize.

I purchased this book during a "first of series" sale based on reviews. I am sure glad that I did.

Craig Johnson and George Guidall deliver a first class story and performance. In this second book, only a couple of weeks have passed since the end of book one and this allows the listener to become immersed in the characters. I am fortunate that this is a new series for me and I can listen to them back-to-back-to-back. (I am listening to book three and have added all released books to my library). I can say, without giving away the storyline, is that each book adds additional layers to Walt and friends. I can't wait to see where Craig takes us.

I bought the first book in preparation for a trip out west. I will now I be looking for Walt, Vic, and Henry as we drive through Wyoming.

As for George, I can't imagine another voice for Walt. As a matter of fact, I discovered that these books have been made into a TV series. While I enjoy the watching the show, I keep waiting for the actors to sound just like they do when I listen....so far, that hasn't happened.

Nola Leary would have been content to stay in Kilcairy, Ireland, healing villagers at her family’s clinic with a mix of magic and modern medicine. But a series of ill-timed omens and a deathbed promise to her grandmother have sent her on a quest to Half-Moon Hollow, Kentucky, to secure her family’s magical potency for the next generation. Her supernatural task? To unearth four artifacts hidden by her grandfather before a rival magical family beats her to it. This listen was like returning to a favoite vacation spot where the inhabinants have become friends. Jane, Zeb, Gabriel, Dick, Andrea, Ivy, and Jane's mother and father. We even get to visit with Mr Wainright. How cool is that?

The story was predictable but Molly writes with and Amanda delivers with such humor that we are laughing and finding ways to listen without interruption. I will admit to a few minutes of puzzlement when I first started listening because Amanda's irish accent was a trifle off putting. But within 5 minutes I had acclimated and soon thought she had a great delivery (as usual).

This series can continue and I understand that all of the characters in the Guardian series show up in the Silver Dragon series. So I am off to hear Gabriel's story next.
