Nasty weather has put Goldy's catering schedule on the skids for weeks. Now, happy to be working again, she looks forward to whipping up a sumptuous dinner for two wealthy clients who are celebrating their new venture - the reopening of the Eurydice Gold Mine. But when one of the men disappears, and her best friend is accused of murder, Goldy must find out who has turned the feast into a fiasco.

Purdy Oaten says: "More of What I like in a Goldy Mystery!"
"Not up to par with other books."
    Overall

I have read the previous books in this series and was satisfied. This book is also pretty good. I don't like the narrator. She sound old. Goldy is supposed to be in her eayly 30s but this woman sounds like she is in her fifties. Another thing I did not like was that Goldy seem to lack common sense in this book. I don't want to give too much away, but there are some things about the law that everyone should know. All in all, it was a nice way to pass the time on my way to work. I will buy the next in the series.

A brand new series from the author of the Weather Warden novels, who is “Swift, sassy, and sexy as Laurell K. Hamilton.” (Mary Jo Putney). Once she was Cassiel, a Djinn of limitless power. Now, she has been reshaped in human flesh as punishment for defying her master - and living among the Weather Wardens, whose power she must tap into regularly or she will die. And as she copes with the emotions and frailties of her human condition, a malevolent entity threatens her new existence....

I have been waiting to listen to the Storm warden series by Rachel Caine for a while. When I saw this book I thought I would give it a chance. The author started the book at the end of a conversation. I guess she intended you to be intrigued by the main characters struggle and then come back to what started the problem in the first place. Wrong!-the book never grabbed my attention completely. I couldn't get past the first few chapters. I hope the Storm warden series is better than this. I'm not so sure I want to find out.
