Because she insists on fighting with words instead of her fists, 13-year-old Nita is regularly tormented by a gang of classmates. One day, running to escape their blows, she hides in the only safe place nearby: the library. When a book about wizardry catches her eye, Nita finds the help she needs in its pages. As she moves from chapter to chapter, Nita learns more sophisticated spells. Soon, stepping through a worldgate, she enters a shadowy city swirling with vicious taxicabs and carnivorous fireplugs.

    Overall

This series has been compared time and time again to the Harry Potter books, and, though I love HP, these series are NOT the same. You have a set of young friends, who are wizards, who fight against dark forces and deal with life's issues. But that is where the similarity ends. The wizardry books are more imaginative, filled with different beings, different worlds, creative and twist turning adventures that will leave readers wanting more and waiting impatiently to download the next edition. Not only is the story incredible but the narrarator is the best I've heard yet. Each character's voice is distinct and believable and allows you to immerse yourself completely in the story. This is a great series for for children and adults alike. I love it.

City of Fallen Angels take up where City of Glass left off. With Valentine out of the way, Clary thought she and Jace could finally be together--but when someone starts murdering the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine's Circle and leaving their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to destroy the new peace between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, she realizes the past can never be left entirely behind.

Would you listen to City of Fallen Angels again? Why?

No way - the narration made listening to the story almost painful.

What other book might you compare City of Fallen Angels to and why?

The book itself is amazing. If you liked the rest of the series then you will absolutely continue to love this one.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ed Westwick and Molly C. Quinn ’s performances?

NO! the character's voices sound almost the same. Names and words are mispronounced. It was clear these two had not even bothered to hear the first stories. I don't know why the changed narrators when the first books sounded so good that you were instantly sucked into the story.
And I'm not even going to mention how upset I got at their version of Magnus!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The story keeps you invested in the lives of the characters - if you can keep from getting distracted by the narrators (yes, it was that bad).

    Any additional comments?

The story is great. Cassandra Clare is a master at weaving a tale that leaves you fully invested in the characters and wanting more. Do not let the narration detract you from the story itself - though you may just want to read this one rather than listen if at all possible.

As I mentioned before, the voices do not fit the character, there is barely any change from one character to the next, the females voice sounds immature and overly enunciated as though she were so focused on pronouncing every syllable that she never gets into the "flow of the story", words are mispronounced, names are mispronounced, and I literally had to hit pause when I heard their version of Magnus.

Great story but please go back to the original narration. This unneeded alternation creates a huge injustice and distraction to the reader.

Twas the night (okay, more like the week) before Christmas, and all through Pine Cove, California, people are busy buying, wrapping, packing, and generally getting into the holiday spirit.

In typical Moore style, this book keeps you chuckling. Definitly written for adults, it does have some adult senarios and humor. Very enjoyable of you enjoy twisted humor. :)

If you love books about magic, discovery, and lands of enchantment, then this is the book for you. I listen to all of the same books my children hear/read, and I found this one fun, original, and throughly enjoyable.

    "Difficult Read"
    Overall

Other than the last hour or two, comprising the ending and this book?s only redeeming value; I found the story to be a long and difficult read. Although it is written on a great premise of fallen angels, prophesizing books, and restless spirits, it just doesn?t manage to fulfill its promise of true suspense and thrilling adventure. Instead it leaves you hoping the story will save itself at some point, pick up the pace, and really become entertaining. I am an avid book lover, both written and audible, and I finish every book I start ? but this one was just painful and I would not listen to it again.

The Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy, the first volume in the five-part Hitchhiker "trilogy" made Douglas Adams a science fiction sensation, and is a must-listen for any and all fans of the genre. Don't forget to bring a towel!

The hardcopy was great but this was better! Getting to hear the author's rendition of this incredibly fascinating, mindbogglingly twisted tale makes it that much more enjoyable.
