This is one of those books that you start listening to and realize that you should have gotten the paper version. There are too many spots that I would want to re-read, especially when she gives you different exercises to do.
I am a huge Orson Scott Card Fan and have been waiting eagerly for this book to come out - maybe that is why I was kind of disappointed.... It is still good, but the first one was better.
Once I realized what was going on I really enjoyed this book. It was somewhat confusing in the beginning because it is from the point of view of a Mexican maid who herself is not sure what is going on. I really loved the narrator of this book.
The narrator as a soothing voice that made me want to sleep. I wish I had gotten the paper version. The content is very interesting but as an audible it put me to sleep.
This was a really great story but it was not at all what I was expecting from the description. It is sad, I cried through most of it. It is like a tale of futuristic child abuse.
In the beginning of this story I wasn't sure if I was going to want to finish it, but as the story built I became more and more invested. The lead character was annoyingly meddlesome, and the townspeople were exactly what I would imagine people of this time period to be like. I have read stories by Robert McCammon before and I honestly had forgotten what a great weaver he is.
All of the characters in this story were so realistic and interesting I didn't want to stop listening. I just wanted to stay intertwined with all of them. I love the different twists that the author gave to each of the historical characters personalities.
Yes- I loved the story and the performance. It was like getting a glimpse into a another time, one where magic and superstition were a part of what was known. This book brought the mystery of the Golem and the Jinni to life.
I felt like the entire book was leading up to something that never happened. Just when it finally started to get interesting it ended.....
This book had me laughing, it is quick moving, funny and interesting.
Amanda Ronconi embodied the characters beautifully.
