I was not happy with the slowness of the story development. Although the story line had potential, the author kept having the lead characters make dumb mistakes during times of crisis!
While I enjoyed the "potential" of the story, I did not care for, in my opinion, the quirky way the author presented the material.
I enjoy the magical realm in books, and like strong women/men who fight for what is right. I was very disappoined in this book, given I felt it was very slow to develop, and very little magical moments. Most of the book was given over to romance, not what I wanted to read, albeit, the story line was interesting, barring the hours of romantic and convoluted personal relationships.
If the author would focus on the story line, it would have been a great book. However, the story facilated between philosophy, romance, with an emphasis on the hero trying to be less. Bummer!
A lot of introspection, and painfully slow. A lot of potential, only if the author can get a grip on the story. The reader had a sing song presentation which I did not care like.
I did not enjoy this book, mainly because I prefer a linear story. This one, with it's flashbacks, and converging story lines was confusing to me, and tiring. However, someone with a more agile mind may enjoy it. ;-)
I started reading and enjoying this series with the first three books. I enjoy science fiction and strong women, which was both indicated in the first three books.
For some reason, the author has changed the lead character, making her weak, indecisive, and unable to defend herself. Not what I was hoping for, nor expecting. I did not read book four because of the reviews, but thought this book would get back on track. Not so.
As it turned out, this was basically a love story, and not a science fiction, nor a strong woman.
Started and stopped several time. I just couldn't connect with this story no matter how much I tried.
Why do author's take the lead hero, give superpowers, and then have them whine about using them, or fail to use the powers given until the last moment. The story line had great potential, so I listened to the next book hoping the hero would step up. Some use of his powers, maybe the third book! If I decide to continue.
Not a lot of variation in voice.
This audio book may have been better, at least for me, if I had read it in written form. In audio, I had a hard time tracking the many characters and paths the story developed. In written form, I could have backtracked to relate what I was reading to that which I had already read.
