Detective Stan Sheperd lies comatose in the hospital, a victim of arsenic poisoning. The Newpointe police have a suspect: Celia Shepherd, Stan's wife.

Celia is no stranger to such charges. When her first husband died of poisoning, a technicality scuttled the case against her, and Celia got off scot-free. Now it looks like the same old story - only this time, the motive appears plain. But attorney Jill Clark thinks the pieces of the puzzle fit together a bit too neatly.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it was a well written suspense, mystery novel.

What did you like best about this story?

It showed how easily conclusions can be jumped to when the right "evidence" is presented.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    Aunt Aggie's funeral.

If you could rename Shadow of Doubt, what would you call it?

    No, Perfect.

    Any additional comments?

Was disappointed in the Preacher, Nick. Seemed he whimped out as a pastor, not deep seated in faith as a pastor, or a solid christian should be.

It’s the summer of 2005, and Mardi Jo Link’s dream of living the simple life has unraveled into debt, heartbreak, and perpetually ragged cuticles. She and her husband of nineteen years have just called it quits, leaving her with serious cash-flow problems and a looming divorce. More broke than ever, Link makes a seemingly impossible resolution: to hang on to her century-old farmhouse in northern Michigan and continue to raise her three boys on well water and wood chopping and dirt. Armed with an unfailing sense of humor and three resolute accomplices, Link confronts blizzards and foxes, learns about Zen divorce and the best way to butcher a hog, dominates a zucchini-growing contest and wins a year’s supply of local bread, masters the art of bargain cooking, wrangles rampaging poultry, and withstands any blow to her pride in order to preserve the life she wants.

CHRIS says: "great story about a mom who will fight for her fam"

Twelve years ago Matthew "the Rocket" Rising had it all. Married to his high school sweetheart and one of the winningest quarterbacks in the history of college football, he was the number one NFL draft pick. But on the night of the draft, he plummeted from the pinnacle of esteem. Falsely accused of a heinous crime with irrefutable evidence, it seemed in an instant all was lost--his reputation, his career, his freedom, and most devastatingly, the love of his life.

Everything about the man is a mystery: the massive ranch in the remote Black Hills of Wyoming that nobody ever visits, the women who live with him, the secret philanthropies, the private airstrip, the sudden disappearances. And especially the persistent rumors that the man’s wealth comes from killing people. Joe Pickett, still officially a game warden but now mostly a troubleshooter for the governor, is assigned to find out what the truth is, but he discovers a lot more than he’d bargained for. There are two other men living up at that ranch. One is a stone-cold killer who takes an instant dislike to Joe.

What did you like best about this story?

Will Trent and Sarah at their best.

Yes. This is one of her best.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Strong emotions throughout the book.

    Any additional comments?

Only negative thing for me was the fact that in previous books of this series Will Trent refused to upgrade his tattered and broken cell phone because of the issues he has with Dyslexia. That's cool, but then in this book all of a sudden he's mastering a "smart phone" with intense, complicated apps.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Survivor to be better than the print version?

No. Jackie Schlicher seemed to have too much of a monotone. She was reading words, not telling the story. Failed at bringing the story to life.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Kariss. Sassy.

What aspect of Jackie Schlicher’s performance would you have changed?

I would have had her put more emotion in her performance and less just reading the sentences.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The shooting scene was well written.
