New York book editor Maris Matherly-Reed knows a best seller when she sees one - even if it is just a tantalizing partial manuscript submitted by a writer identified only as P.M.E., with the return address of an obscure island off the Georgia coast. Maris is intrigued enough to search for him.

This was the first, but definitely not the last Sandra Brown story I've listened to! It is one of those rare audible 'finds' that you simply can't put down!!! Full of twist and turns, while somewhat predictable, when it finally comes down, there are still plenty of surprises, right to the very end! This reader does a fantastic job on this book, and I'm convinced that the audible version is much more engaging than the actual 'read'! It would make a fantastic movie!

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

After more than 8 years with Audible and almost 500 audio books, this one stands out as one of the best and most memorable reads. After listening to "The Help" the first time, I did something I have only done a few times before, and I turned right around and listened to it again, and 2 weeks later, my mind is still thinking of the remarkable characters in this book! I found the story captured my attention quickly and was comfortably paced to keep me riveted until the end. I will eagerly look forward to more works from this author, preferably in the way of a sequel!!!

When Arlene Fleet heads up north for college, she makes three promises to God: She will stop fornicating with every boy who crosses her path; never tell another lie; and never, ever go back to the "fourth rack of hell", her hometown of Possett, Alabama. All she wants from Him is one little miracle: make sure the body is never found.

WOW, this was the best story I've heard in a long time! This is a case where you have a really well written story and where the narrator fits the read perfectly. What you get is an incredible audiobook you won't want to end. Listen to "Gods in Alabama"...you won't be sorry!!!

A tour-de-force novel set in ancient Japan filled with passion, fantasy, and feuding warlords. The first volume in the highly anticipated Tales of the Otori trilogy.

    Overall

I downloaded all 3 books about a year ago after reading all the glowing reviews, and was disappointed to say the least. I just couldn't get INTO this book after a few hours I gave up. Recently however, I was searching through my older titles for something to listen to, and decided to give this trilogy another shot. I AM SO GLAD I DID!!!

This time I tried a little harder in the beginning to follow the story line, and to really visualize the characters as they entered the scene. By the end of the first book I was hopelessly hooked, and by the end of the 3rd story, I didn't want it to end, and will probably listen again in the near future, something I only do with my absolute favorites!!!

No, it shouldn't be so much work and concentration to get into a story, but in my opinion, the rewards for persevering are GREAT!!! Listen with an open mind instead of a critical ear and you too will be 'sold' on this fascinating trilogy!
