Murder In The Yoga Store is the true story of the brutal killing of a beautiful young woman at a chic Lululemon yoga-wear shop. The grisly murder was committed on a pleasant Friday night in upscale Bethesda, Maryland, a leafy suburb of Washington, D.C. In this riveting narrative by veteran journalist Peter Ross Range, the author for the first time brings together the tale of what really happened in the yoga store murder.

    Story

This was the true story of the murder at a Lululemon store. I was not aware of this before I read the book and even checked to see that it was in fact true. This makes the story less enjoyable knowing that it was true; it's no longer a spine-tingling novel. That being said, I felt that this book was really just fact finding, and the narration was the worse I have ever listened to. My 7 year old grandson this past week picked up one of my books (adult fiction) and read to me to show me how well he reads and he showed more emotion than this narration. It was pretty much read in a monotone voice. Made it hard to get through. I hope this was one of the books I got cheaply and glad it was only 4 hours long.

In pre-war Prague, the dreams of two young lovers are shattered when they are separated by the Nazi invasion. Then, decades later, thousands of miles away in New York, there's an inescapable glance of recognition between two strangers. Providence is giving Lenka and Josef one more chance. From the glamorous ease of life in Prague before the Occupation, to the horrors of Nazi Europe, The Lost Wife explores the power of first love, the resilience of the human spirit, and the strength of memory.

    Story

This is a book that stays with me. I think about it off and on. It's a love story woven through the Holocaust. The narration is excellent. The emotions, the pain, the love, are raw. It is hard to believe that such atrocities could really happen. You can see tears streaming down a characters face through the narration. I like that the story was told from two points of view, and both narrators are great. The strength of the people is unfathomable. I wonder how we would fare as humanity today if such things were to take place. I don't think we have their resolve. It's hard to imagine that people could do such things to their fellow mankind but we also see cruel things happening every day. Although this books haunts me, I also feel such admiration for the people who went through this awful period of their lives and the strength they showed to survive. I don't want to say that the book was depressing; rather it shared a story of resiliency that captivates.

For over a hundred years, the Angelini Shoe Company in Greenwich Village has relied on the leather produced by Vechiarelli & Son in Tuscany. This ancient business partnership provides the twist of fate for Valentine Roncalli to fall in love with Gianluca Vechiarelli, a tanner with a complex past...and a secret.

Following the story of Valentina feels like revisiting an old friend that I haven't seen in a long time. She weaves the characters into the story line so that if you haven't read her previous books you still understand the relationships of the characters. You fall in love with all of them in their own ways and live their struggles and happiness along with them. When something happens to one of the characters you feel their emotions along with them. The narrator is excellent. After listening for awhile you know which character is speaking just by her voice. Great selection. Did not want it to end. I hope there will be another Valentina story!

Offred is a Handmaid in the Republic of Gilead, serving in the household of the enigmatic Commander and his bitter wife. She may go out once a day to markets whose signs are now pictures because women are not allowed to read. She must pray that the Commander makes her pregnant, for in a time of declining birthrates her value lies in her fertility, and failure means exile to the dangerously polluted Colonies. Offred can remember a time when she lived with her husband and daughter and had a job, before she lost even her own name....

This was a good choice. I enjoyed the book, but did not like the ending. Another ending and I would have rated it a 4. Claire Danes did an excellent job narrating, part of the reason I chose this book.

Andy Barber has been an assistant district attorney in his suburban Massachusetts county for more than 20 years. He is respected in his community, tenacious in the courtroom, and happy at home with his wife, Laurie, and son, Jacob. But when a shocking crime shatters their New England town, Andy is blindsided by what happens next: his 14-year-old son is charged with the murder of a fellow student.

What did you love best about Defending Jacob?

I found the familial relationships interesting. Even though you see evidence against your son a parent has to believe in this son. Makes you think, "what would I do in a similar situation". What happens between the parents and child, the husband and wife, and even between old friends and neighbors is heart wrenching. But then you think how would I feel if this was my son, my neighbor, my friend. Even if you win, you don't.

What did you like best about this story?

The relationship issues and how you don't see the ending coming.

What does Grover Gardner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I found his voice easy to listen to and I liked his interpretation of the various characters. I have even looked for other books that he has narrated because I appreciated his narration of this story so much.

    Any additional comments?

Worth the credit. Kept my interest.
