  • The Amazing Mrs. Pollifax

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 34 mins)
    • By Dorothy Gilman
    • Narrated By Barbara Rosenblat
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Emily Pollifax is one of a precious few gray-haired female sleuths who solve their cases through unflagging determination, moral courage and wisdom that comes with age. In "The Amazing Mrs. Pollifax", Emily answers the call of that “nice Mr. Carstairs” to go to Istanbul as a courier and search for a missing agent.

Coffee Lover says: "Wonderful story, perfect narration!"
    "A Delightful Series!!"

I was really unsure about selecting the 1st book in this series - The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax! But, I was truly impressed with the story line and the narration. I just love Barbara Rosenblat! She is amazing to listen too, she takes you into the story with her! I have just finished listening to the Amazing Mrs. Pollifax and it was wonderful. I really cannot say enough about it. I was laughing, smiling and even a small tear. Each book is a seperate story, with only the main charaters reappearing and new ones introduced. Thank you Dorothy Gilman and Barbara Rosenblat. I have downloaded all the books except 2 as they are not offered on Audible. And Thank you Audible for sharing these great stories with me!

  • The Beekeeper's Apprentice

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 33 mins)
    • By Laurie R. King
    • Narrated By Jenny Sterlin
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In 1914, a spirited American girl named Mary Russell meets a retired Sherlock Holmes in the English countryside. Instantly realizing that Mary is gifted with astonishing deductive powers, the Great Detective emerges from retirement to join her as she tracks down a fiendish assassin.

Marie-Elizabeth Finamore says: "Best of British restraint"
"An Different Twist on Sherlock Holmes Stories"

I downloaded this series with apprehension. I just did not want another Holmes read, re inventing the same stories with a different flare. I am on part 2 of this book and I find it quite captivating. It has an interesting story line, but to my dissappointment it is a series of stories under the title of one. I understand they are introducing a new character to Holmes but I expected one story line not several. The author Laurie R. King has done a great job writing this book and the narrator Jenny Sterlin is fantastic. She keeps you interested in the characters and you do not find yourself drifting off as some narrators seem to do. I would recommend this book and I am looking forward to listening to the rest of the series. Enjoy!

  • Devil’s Food Cake Murder: A Hannah Swensen Mystery with Recipes

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 58 mins)
    • By Joanne Fluke
    • Narrated By Suzanne Toren
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

New York Times best-selling author Joanne Fluke will leave listeners hungry for more with this, her best recipe for murder yet. Devil’s Food Cake Murder finds the residents of Lake Eden, Minnesota, buzzing with activity. Perhaps busiest of all is Hannah Swensen, proprietor of The Cookie Jar, who is experimenting with a devil’s food cake recipe. But no matter how hectic times may be, Hannah can always find time to help a friend—particularly a dead one.

Russell says: "Now thats what I call a cliffhanger ending!"
"I did not think I was buying a cookbook!"

The whole series has been about mystery and RECIPES, however if one does not" Bake" then the recipes are of little value. We kept listening to the series, hoping things would improve and change. Spice it up a bit!!
The final book was the "Icing on the Cake", the story line was really getting old, regarding Hannah's indecision about the "man" she would prefer. We thought it was not very good at all, in fact horrible. We really could not wait for it to end. Please do something about the recipes. I do have some suggestions.....
Suzanne Toren did a great job at the Narration. She was very consistant with her characters!
