Jane Darlington is a genius at physics, but there's one problem she can't solve. She yearns for a child, but wants to spare it the pain of growing up as...well, a nerd. And surely any child of Jane's would be a little too brainy for the playground set. So she sets out to find a special man to father her child, someone without too much gray-matter between his ears: in short, a big, strong dope. Cal Bonner, legendary pro quarterback, seems to fit the bill. But there's something Dr. Jane hasn't counted on.

I thoroughly enjoy how Susan Elizabeth Phillips can take ordinary words and turn them into a book that is so worthwhile to read. This book is amust for anyone who enjoys a good laugh with their read. Susan Elizabeth Phillips is one of my favorite authors and I look forward to reading more by her.

A graduate of a prestigious French culinary school, Peyton has just lost her job as a food critic after rightfully accusing her boss of sexual harassment. Out of work and in a bad place personally, to Peyton a year doing something completely different sounds wonderful. Peyton dives into learning the resort business but is quickly derailed by an escalating chain of events that puts her life in danger. She refuses to be intimidated - until she’s nearly killed. Then she calls on her childhood friend and protector, Finn MacBain, now with the FBI, and asks for his help.

    What disappointed you about Hotshot?

    predictable

What could Julie Garwood have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

A more interesting plot and storyline

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narrator was good, it was the reason I finished the book

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disappointment

    Any additional comments?

I have enjoyed many of Julie Garwood's books and read everything she publishes, however this is something I will change in future. For me, it appears that Ms Garwood is trying to give her contemporary heroines the same traits and characteristics as the heroines in her historical romances (totally enjoy this setting) however it isn’t working for me in a contemporary setting.

It was a crime so brutal, it changed the lives of even the most hardened homicide cops. The Haas family murders left a scar on the community nothing can erase, but everyone agrees that convicting the killer, Karl Dahl, is a start. Only Judge Carey Moore seems to be standing in the way. Her ruling that Dahl's prior criminal record is inadmissible raises a public outcry, and puts the judge in grave danger.

Candyman - a great bad guy

What does Holter Graham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    An amazing narrator

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely, unfortunately had to go to work,

    Any additional comments?

Tami Hoag is a great author, her books are a "keep you guessing until the end", can't wait for her next book.
