This book is written in the "I", a man, so at first I had a little trouble getting it. But, it didn't take long until I was very interested in the story as well as attached to the characters. The story has such depth and is loaded with true meanings of life. Tears and laughter at times, I truly love 'Uncle Willie'. This story will stay with me and I would even listen to it again. Thanks Mr. Martin and I sure look forward to your other books. I would like an audio to be made of the book "When Crickets Cry" because it was recommended to me by a friend as the "best book she had ever read" - she is an 84-year-old avid reader. /debR

One question, a split-second decision, and Brian Darby lies dead on the kitchen floor. His wife, state police trooper Tessa Leoni, claims to have shot him in self-defense, and bears the bruises to back up her tale. For veteran detective D. D. Warren it should be an open-and-shut case. But where is their six-year-old daughter? As the homicide investigation ratchets into a frantic statewide search for a missing child, D. D. Warren must partner with former lover Bobby Dodge to break through the blue wall of police brotherhood, seeking to understand the inner workings of a trooper’s mind while also unearthing family secrets.

This is the first book I have read by Lisa Gardner but it will definitely not be my last. The narrator was excellent! The story kept me going through the entire book, never dull, always turns and twists. Recommend this if you like mysteries and good listening.

Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Truly a book I could not put down and when I had to, I could not wait to keep listening. This is one of the best narrations and stories I have read out of my collection of over 100 audiobooks.

A shattering childhood tragedy left Quentin Fears devastated. But the wealthy, enigmatic recluse has experienced the extraordinarily unexpected: love at first sight, with Madeleine. Now he must meet his new wife's family. A bizarre, dysfunctional collection of extreme characters, they are guarding a secret both shocking and terrifying, as is Madeleine herself. And suddenly Quentin Fears must prevent his dream woman from unleashing an ageless malevolence intent on ruling the world.

To me this story was metaphorical in many areas. Very interesting on a deeper level. Good and evil, attitude and perception, etc. I liked it and the reader was perfect.

Into the Web stars Roy Slater, a young man who 25 years ago ran away from his hometown to escape the consequences of an unspeakable crime. Now, Roy returns to see his father die and is caught up in another scandal. Murder rocks the small town, and for Roy it draws him into the same web of deceit and treachery he tried so hard to leave behind. Tom Stechschulte's intense narration will have listeners on the edges of their seats.

The story is great, such believable characters as well as places - especially when read by Mr. Stechschulte. He is the best narrator. Enjoyed the book very much. I like it when I feel as though I know the people and can feel or see what they are experiencing and Mr. Stechschulte surely makes this happen.

Never has Mallory faced as many surprises as in the case before her now. It seems cut-and-dried at first: a burglar has been caught in the act and killed by an ice pick-wielding homeowner. Except that the homeowner turns out to be the most famous lost child in NYPD history, missing for almost 60 years, thought to have been kidnapped following the massacre of her family: five siblings, father, stepmother, nanny, and housekeeper, nearly the entire household wiped out...with an ice pick.

    Overall

The story line is very intriguing. I have one comment regarding the reading however. There was not enough pausing between scenes of times past and present, nor between scenes. It was rather difficult to follow. A bit longer pause between time changes and scenes would have made it better, in my opinion. Very good otherwise.

I very much enjoyed this story. The reality was felt in both good as well as heartbreaking situations. The narrator can make a book, and I enjoyed this narrator.
