When single father Danny Goodman suddenly finds himself unable to afford the private school his teenage daughter adores, he has no one to turn to for financial support. In what seems like a stroke of brilliant luck, Danny meets Thomas Galvin, the father of his daughter’s new best friend, who also happens to be one of the wealthiest men in Boston. Galvin is aware of Danny's situation and out of the blue offers a $50,000 loan to help Danny cover his daughter's tuition. Uncomfortable but desperate, Danny takes the money, promising to pay Galvin back.

Would you try another book from Joseph Finder and/or Steven Kearney?

    Definitely not.

What was most disappointing about Joseph Finder’s story?

Everything. The only redeeming quality to the book was the main character's love for his daughter. This was truly a book telling a story that I am certain I have seen on television shows for 20 years.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I believe the performance was fine. It becomes hard to separate when the story is so pathetically lame.

Could you see Suspicion being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I should've seen this question coming but I didn't… The problem is, it already been a movie and TV series countless times. Please don't do it again.

    Any additional comments?

On an up note if someone is looking to have a book published, this one was published. Therefore have hope.

In this bold, fascinating book, Biss investigates the metaphors and myths surrounding our conception of immunity and its implications for the individual and the social body. As she hears more and more fears about vaccines, Biss researches what they mean for her own child, her immediate community, America, and the world, both historically and in the present moment.

Would you listen to On Immunity again? Why?

I did actually listen to most of it twice, in 24 hours. It's a very-well woven story and it's easy to forget it's non-fiction and in what one might think would be a "heavy" genre. I did learn a lot and will forever think of vaccines differently. Much more than a personal choice.

What does Tamara Marston bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She fits the writing and narrates with that flow that makes one forget it's not the author telling her tale.

    Any additional comments?

This book reads a lot like a journal, a bit like mythology, a bit like philosophy... and it is a fresh take on a topic not often covered. It is never over-the-top on density. It is easy to understand without any "talking down" to the reader. Much more than I expected for what possibly does not sound like a fascinating topic. Excellent writing. Impressive detail attention to providing sources. Clearly well-researched yet presented in a captivating "story" style.

Blood-boosting Procrit is Johnson & Johnson's biotech superstar. Behind its various brand names, it ranks as Medicare's most reimbursed drug. But Procrit performs frighteningly well, and can stimulate so many blood cells that thousands of patients die in unexplained and painful ways. Blood Feud is award-winning journalist Kathleen Sharp's nail-biting expose of the Procrit case. Packed with corporate espionage, plot twists, and larger-than-life characters, it's as gripping as it is terrifyingly true.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would absolutely recommend this book. I literally could not stop listening to it. It's one of the best "page-turners" I have experienced in years. It reads like fiction while informing factually. The writing is also simply brilliant. The story is so well told. And there are, if one listens, some very witty lines interspersed in a serious tale. Actually a scary scary tale because it's not fiction.

This book is better than any fictional conspiracy novel could hope to be. No need to know the ins-and-outs of pharmacology of finances to follow and truly enjoy this book.

What about Coleen Marlo’s performance did you like?

It is very well done. The next book I heard made me want her back again.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    I did!

    Any additional comments?

I've no idea why this book is on the top of many lists. I've looked for a good thriller for weeks and weeks and found it in non-fiction with this title.

What made the experience of listening to Hunter's Moon the most enjoyable?

Characters, location. Good plots not too intricate. Worthwhile easy listening.

Am gradually reading all titles in the series. Not too intense, just easy decent reads.

What about Marguerite Gavin’s performance did you like?

She is a very good fit for the lead character and does an overall good job. Pleasing.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Smallpox, the only infectious disease to have been eradicated, was one of the most terrifying of human scourges. It covered the skin with hideous, painful boils, killed a third of its victims, and left the survivors disfigured for life. In this riveting, often terrifying look at the history of smallpox, Jonathan B. Tucker tells the story of this deadly disease, the heroic efforts to eradicate it worldwide, and the looming dangers it still poses today.

What made the experience of listening to Scourge the most enjoyable?

Who was your favorite character and why?

The last chapter should be a major wake up call in the midst of an Ebola outbreak we cannot vaccinate in time.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Vulnerable

    Any additional comments?

Where are we now? Why are we doing nothing? This book indicated a true concern a decade ago. Why are we not vaccinating again NOW? It is too late once there is an outbreak and small pox is too widely held, too easily a terrorist weapon.

What made the experience of listening to Shatter the most enjoyable?

The first quarter of the book when the writing was impressive and character development intriguing. The narrator was wonderful throughout the book!

What other book might you compare Shatter to and why?

Too many that have promise and fall apart.

Which character – as performed by Sean Barrett – was your favorite?

Joe, until I could not stand him another minute. Lesson? Quit when I know it has all eroded. Stop wasting time to see these books through.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Great start.

    Any additional comments?

It COULD have been really great. Perhaps it needed to be "a wrap" by the end of the third quarter. It devolved into sloppy writing and what seemed like unedited/proofed rewriting, some characters just disappeared others diminished. The plot became tedious although initially was quite thrilling. It felt as if the author had a contract to write more pages! Tortuously, he did. Predictable end. "It could have been ..." Another "if only... " waste of time – this title.

No. I read the next title in this series first and learned absolutely nothing in this book that I did not learn in the one that follows it. The newer book is also a better read just in general. The characters have been better developed and I like the characters; they are the strength of this series. This book is a waste of time.

Yes but in half the time. It had a decent idea, characters are good but just went on-and-on without any accretive contributions. Would have been twice as pleased if it had been half as long.
