Another awesome adventure with the Chess Team!!! It has everything you've come to expect with one of three books and I am very glad I read all the novellas between the last full novel and this one. If you haven't, you really should. Excellent book!!
Jeffrey Kafer has a fantastic way of bringing the book to life. I love his interpretations of the characters, especially Rook, who continuously cracks me up.
This series of books just keep getting better. The battle for Earth is about to begin and I can't wait to go along for the ride! I listened to this via Audible and RC Bray is an amazing author who brings the characters to life.
RC Bray has an amazing talent at bringing Sol and all the other characters to life. The supernatural voices are fantastic and it sometimes feels like you are watching a movie
While I can't tell you exactly what it was about this instalment that I liked even more than the first one, I can indeed tell you that I enjoyed this one much more. Just enough action to keep the pages turning, some happiness for poor Sol after some years of terror, and an ending that made me want to cry and get straight into the next in the series. Very very good!
RC Bray is an amazing narrator, who brings Sol and the other characters even more to life than I imagined possible. I was really impressed with the different voices he uses, and the extra effort he took to make them supernatural.
As always, Jeffrey Kafer brings the characters and story to life in such a way that you feel like you're really there.
It was such a pleasure to read this book and see the origins of the Chess Team that we have come to know and love. Every time one of the team was introduced into the story, you feel a slight thrill at knowing where this path was going to take them. It's certainly enough to make me want to go back and read them all again. One of the benefits of this book is that you can read it first (as, chronologically, it is first), or read it after "Omega", to see where everything began (the way the books were written).
What I love about Jeremy Robinson's books (and Prime is a 'prime' example of this), is how well he manages to link historical and/or scientific subjects that you never would have conceived of linking. I believe that he does a lot of research on these subjects, so he must be a pretty damn knowledgeable person by now. And whether the facts are perfectly correct or whether there's a great deal of artistic licence employed, you just don't care. Because the ride that you are taken on is just so much damn fun! An exciting, action-packed fun read that you will enjoy immensely.
Yes, actually!!! I had already read Omega last year and thought it couldn't be topped, but I was wrong... Jeffrey Kafer has an amazing talent that brings both the story and the characters to life!
I am utterly speechless having finished this book! It was amazing!!! You would never expect where it takes you (well, I certainly didn't), and I'm thrilled to hear that Jeremy Robinson will continue to write more Chess Team adventures, as this one really wrapped up the storylines of the previous books. I've always loved Rook and his sense of humour, but this time around, Jack and Alexander win the comedy award; many of their scenes together reminiscent of a good buddy cop movie. I can honestly say that this was the BEST Chess Team book so far - the only one to make me laugh, cry and have to remind myself to breathe. Awesome awesome work, Mr Robinson and Mr Gilmour - just awesome!!!!
In this very exciting third instalment of the Chess Team, Jack has just been officially named as foster father to young Fiona, the girl he found at the Siletz Reservation in the previous book. When she is kidnapped, Jack is hard on her trail, and the rest of Chess Team is split up to find (and kidnap) the remaining speakers of very old, almost forgotten languages, as they seem to be the target of some evil mastermind. Lots of old faces show up (some good, some not-so-good), and there's also a lot of surprises along the way. Once again, the novel is action-packed, funny, sad, filled with crazy characters and weird monsters, and an absolute delight to read. Can't wait to start on the novellas before the next book comes out soon! (Read 9 June 2012)
Listened to on Audible (14 May 2014). Even better the second time around, and it's interesting to note clues littered throughout the book, that I only notice now that I know where the series has gone. Jeffrey Kafer is an amazing narrator and brings all the characters to life in a fantastic way!
Jeffrey Kafer's narration really brought an already amazing story to life
The action is fast-paced, with great dialogue between characters
Rook!!! I loved hearing Rook come to life
Jeremy Robinson has written a fantastic, fast-paced thriller with great characters. I look forward to listening to more of the Chess. Team adventures
