Easy to spend hours with and fun to dip into, and seasoned with just the right amount of common sense skepticism, Cults, Conspiracies, and Secret Societies is a refreshing look at some of the most fascinating people, moments, and places in history.

Dr. says: "Many interesting fact - BUT"
    "Disappointing"
    Overall

Sounds exotic, but it's not very insightful, or even well-researched. A very superficial look at some cultic groups. No secrets exposed here.

Over the past decade, Malcolm Gladwell has become the most gifted and influential journalist in America. In The New Yorker, his writings are such must-reads that the magazine charges advertisers significantly more money for ads that run within his articles. With his #1 best sellers, The Tipping Point, Blink and Outliers, he has reached millions of readers. And now the very best and most famous of his New Yorker pieces are collected in a brilliant and provocative anthology.

Rudi says: "Not Gladwell's best - and a recording problem"
    "Good book, average listen."
    Overall

It's a typically well-researched and well-written book by Gladwell, but I wish he would have outsourced the narration.

In the Nevada desert, an experiment has gone horribly wrong. A cloud of nanoparticles (micro-robots) has escaped from the laboratory. This cloud is self-sustaining and self-reproducing. It is intelligent and learns from experience. For all practical purposes, it is alive.

    Mary says: "Terrifying"
    "Meh"
    Overall

Started dragging pretty early. There's something about a story about a villain who can be defeated by a swift breeze that rubs me the wrong way. It's no Jurassic Park, that's for sure.

Mikael Blomkvist, crusading journalist and publisher of the magazine Millennium, has decided to publish a story exposing an extensive sex trafficking operation between Eastern Europe and Sweden, implicating well-known and highly placed members of Swedish society, business, and government. On the eve of publication, the two reporters responsible for the story are brutally murdered.

    David says: "irritatingly engrossing"
    "Great follow up effort"
    Overall

This was a real metaphorical page turner. A solid follow up to the dragon tattoo. Same reader, who has good, distinctive voices.

The visionary creator of the Academy Award-winning Pan's Labyrinth and a Hammett Award-winning author bring their imaginations to this bold, epic novel about a horrifying battle between man and vampire that threatens all humanity. It is the first installment in a thrilling trilogy and an extraordinary international publishing event.

    Flavius says: "Hokey But Fun"
    "Vampires!"
    Overall

Very interesting vampire book. A bit cliched, but that's part of the fun, right? A fun listen.

    B. Kyle says: "Excellent and Useful"
    "Poor audio quality."
    Overall

It sounds like it was recorded from across the room with a very amateur microphone. It's hard to hear what she is saying and pay attention, let alone relax and focus. Too bad.
