I can't begin to tell you how disappointed my wife and I were with this book. We are huge Grisham fans and we have every single Grisham book. However, I listened to three of the stories and wasn't interested in another "root canal". My wife listened to every story and told me not to waste my time listening to the rest of the book. If the stories weren't bad enough, the reading by Grisham was like listening to someone who was just learning to read! His expression and cadence were so poor that I could hardly even tell when a story had ended. Please, John, don't embarrass yourself by recording another one of your books. You might have made some extra money by not paying someone else to read it, but your reputation took a huge hit. I realize this review is pretty brutal, but then again, the book was a major letdown.
Can you say, "Root Canal"? I'd rather go to the dentist for a root canal than listen to this book again! If you are taking a course in criminal justice, perhaps this would be a good book to read about the flaws in our criminal system. Otherwise, get the root canal first. It will be more enjoyable. Oh, by the way, I'm a huge fan of John Grisham -- but John, stay away from non-fiction.
Great book. Good to hear the truth.
