Lina. So annoying.
I don't write many reviews. Love Kate Morton's books to give you an idea what types of books I do enjoy. I was looking for something with a little mystery, and a little ghosts/haunted house thrown in to get in the zone for an upcoming trip I'm taking to New Orleans, so gave this a shot. I just felt it was very cheesy. The main female character was extremely irritating, the love story over the top, the accents annoying, and lots of loose ends, I felt. Certain characters seemed pointless. Maybe it's just me, other reviews are so positive. The one element I enjoyed was the historical back story. Would have liked to spend more time with those characters. And the secondary characters, like Remy and Effie, were enjoyable. A few creepy moments. But overall: meh. Not surprised they made a Made for TV movie out of it. This was my first novel by this author.
Loved the story and Beatty's journey. But the parallel storyline really dragged for me, and the ending felt abrupt and a disappointing. Still really enjoyed the book, just hoped for more at the end.
Definitely made me laugh! And also made me think. Roseanne is honest, smart and wonderful. I wish there were more people in this world with her guts. :)
