Melanie is a very special girl. Dr Caldwell calls her "our little genius". Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh. Melanie loves school. She loves learning about spelling and sums and the world outside the classroom and the children's cells. She tells her favorite teacher all the things she'll do when she grows up. Melanie doesn't know why this makes Miss Justineau look sad.

What did you love best about The Girl with All the Gifts?

I love the relationship between Melanie and Miss Justineau. Melanie's love for her is undeniable.

What did you like best about this story?

I would have to say I liked the ending. I didn't find it to be predictable. Although it was sad on one hand it still had a good ending.

Which character – as performed by Finty Williams – was your favorite?

Melanie is an obvious choice but I really enjoyed her performance of Miss Justineau. I think she did a great job on Parks as well. I think Finty Williams was an excellent choice to narrate this book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I don't recall having an extreme reaction like crying ( which I don't really find to be extreme ) but that doesn't mean I didn't get mad and want to slap a few of the characters along the way.

    Any additional comments?

This is definitely not a typical post apocalyptic zombie book.

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

Millions of people visit xkcd.com each week to read Randall Munroe's iconic webcomic. His stick-figure drawings about science, technology, language, and love have a large and passionate following. Fans of xkcd ask Munroe a lot of strange questions. What if you tried to hit a baseball pitched at 90 percent of the speed of light? How fast can you hit a speed bump while driving and live? If there were a robot apocalypse, how long would humanity last?

STOP. You should not have touched this flyer with your bare hands. NO, don't put it down. It's too late. They're watching you. My name is David Wong. My best friend is John. Those names are fake. You might want to change yours. You may not want to know about the things you'll read on these pages, about the sauce, about Korrok, about the invasion, and the future. But it's too late. You touched the book. You're in the game. You're under the eye. The only defense is knowledge. You need to read this book, to the end. Even the part with the bratwurst. Why?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Why wouldn't I recommend this book...it's freaking awesome!

Have you listened to any of Stephen R. Thorne’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No this is the first time.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Don't touch the sauce.

I have re-listened to this book countless times.

Sarah Parsons has never seen Amber House, the grand Maryland estate that's been in her family for three centuries. She's never walked its hedge maze nor found its secret chambers; she's never glimpsed the shades that haunt it, nor hunted for the lost diamonds in its walls. But after her grandmother passes away, Sarah and her friend Jackson decide to search for the diamonds - and the House comes alive.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Sarah and her younger brother Sammy instantly ...and of course Jackson. Their mom is awful, but the book eventually explains how that came to be.
