A bold English adventuer. An invincible Japanese warlord. A beautiful woman torn between two ways of life, two ways of love....An English captain and his crew are shipwrecked on the coast of feudal Japan. They must deal with two Japanese warlords who are struggling to attain the title of Shogun - and the ultimate power that comes with it.

    "Bad Narration Ruins Book"

I agree with all the other reviews about the horrible narration of the book. Many times it sounds like the characters are constipated - struggling to get their words out. I rarely totally give up on a book but I kept finding myself looking forward to finishing the book so I could start something else. The story is decent - there are a ton of characters so make sure you start keeping track right at the beginning

First, the unthinkable: a security breach at a secret U.S. government facility unleashes the monstrous product of a chilling military experiment. Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.

    "Fantastic Novel"
    Overall

To be honest if I knew it was about vampires I never would have purchased it and missed a great story. I would gladly sign a waiver to forego listening to any future books by King or Koontz if I could get the next installment tomorrow instead of waiting until 2012. Best book I have heard since Dark Tower - but lately King is falling flat-same with Koontz - this book was fantastic. I cannot comprehend why some readers did not enjoy it
