I'm not much of a critic. I either like a book, or I don't finish it. I finished it.
I have read all of this series to date and I really liked this story until about what should have been halfway through the book we went to the end. It's as if he hit his deadline and said f**k it, that will have to do. At least warn us next time.
I have liked all of the Gray Man books to date but this one I found myself not able to leave alone. Usually I listen in my car to and from work. This one had me going so much I would find myself wondering how in the hell he was going to get out of this or that situation. I ended up listening at my desk during (ok, and a little bit after) lunch. I've never done that. Sometimes doing chores around the house but never at work. It had a lot of action and a little more character development which I welcomed. I am starting on the last of the series tomorrow.
I have listened to or read all of these books and I honestly think that this one was the best as it had, it seems to me, more character development than many of the previous books. I have enjoyed them all but damn if this one didn't hit me hard. I listen to music because of how it makes me feel, hell because it makes me feel. This book felt good and was definitely a good listen. Thank you Mr. Eisler.
I found the last few books somewhat disappointing, They were adequate but I believe if you were not a fan of the series there would have been little reason to recommend them. This book could stand on it's own except for Reacher's obsession with reaching Virginia. It was a fast paced story that I did not want to stop listening to. I was late to work a few mornings as I needed to finish a chapter in the car before going in to work. I truly enjoyed this one and I hope the character makes it to Virginia someday........
I have resisted Stephen King books and this series in particular for a long time out of some not so well masked prejudice against horror authors. I was swayed after reading 11/22/63. My preferences tend to go towards mystery / suspense and absurd humor. I checked out reviews of King's other works and figured I'd give this one a shot. If you are stuck looking for something different I suggest you try this book as it has opened a whole new world for me. Damn, I need more credits.
To me, this was like half of a book, a setup for the next one, I hope that it is good because there will have to be a lot of raving reviews to get me to give up a credit for it.
Classic Mitch Rapp, which for me, is a good thing. I am reading the series in order and this did not disappoint.
Good author, good story. I'll miss Harry when he gets too old to hijack black and white's.
I'm sorry if you are looking for objectivity in a review, because you'll find none here. I love everything this man writes. The narration by Will Patton is the only thing that could possibly make it better than it is.
