I could not stop listening to this book. It was an amazing story. I'm not sure that someone who is not in the financial business would fully appreciate this book, but it is a must read (listen) for anyone who works on Wall Street. One can see the reason that, in 1998, we were "starring into the abyss".
This book was pretty bad. Clever idea, but poorly executed. I have read kid's books (Harry Potter series and Hunger Games) and enjoyed them for what they are. This book, however, isn't in the same class. Don't waste a credit.
Like most Stephen King novels, it is a fun ride with interesting characters. This one kept me listening, but, like many of his books, deteriorates at the end. I do wonder why the narrator gave the antagonist a southern accent...he lives in Maine!
Not bad...not great. Too mawkish for my taste, but I did listen to the whole book and enjoyed it. Wouldn't go out of your way to listen, but if you need a book to listen to I wouldn't steer you away.
The narrator was the best part, followed by it being an interesting premise. However, it went on and on wtih nothing happening. Plus it was extraordinarily repeptitive.
Get to the point. This story did not need to be 18 hours long...let alone carried over to another book; whcih, I may add, I will not be downloading!
The book was awful. Long, boring, and never comes to any climax. Interminable is the best description I have.
I spent three hours listening and now I give up. Shouldn't a novel have a plot? This is, without question, the worst book I have ever downloaded. Don't waste your time or money.
Had potential to be interesting, but betweent the shallow characters with incomprehensible motivations and the the rediculous story line, it became barely tolerable. Don't waste your time.
Interesting premise but gets very repetitive. In addition, the author preaches his thinly veiled political message...not to metion his infatuation with anything to do with the military. I would be interested to hear if his "facts" are even accurate. Don't believe everything you read...
This author's use of descriptive language and adjectives would have been impressive if it was a homework assignment in an English class for seventh graders...don't waste your time or money!!
Idea is interesting...as it usually is with this author. However, the book is thin and the characters are one-dimentional at best. In addition, the narrator is weak. He makes most of the characters sound whiney. I'd recommend another choice.
This book might appeal to conspiracy theorists and technopobes, but I don't know who else will like it. This book is nothing more than the paranoid rantings of a misanthrope. It is incredibly disjointed and poorly developed. Try reading Orwell's 1984; you can see how a real author handles this topic. Don't waste your time on this one.
