A gripping history of banking and the booms and busts that shaped the world on both sides of the Atlantic, The House of Morgan traces the trajectory of the J. P.Morgan empire from its obscure beginnings in Victorian London to the crash of 1987. Ron Chernow paints a fascinating portrait of the private saga of the Morgans and the rarefied world of the American and British elite in which they moved. Based on extensive interviews and access to the family and business archives, The House of Morgan is an investigative masterpiece.

A business parable about how to create a start-up that won't trap you when you want to sell it. According to John Warrillow, the number one mistake entrepreneurs make is to build a business that relies too heavily on them. Thus, when the time comes to sell, buyers aren't confident that the company-even if it's profitable-can stand on its own. To illustrate this, Warrillow introduces us to a fictional small business owner named Alex who is struggling to sell his advertising agency.

If you take only 10 percent of the information and ideas in this audiobook and put them into practice, it will change your life. I promise. Lifestyle Entrepreneur contains the essence of everything I've learned over the last 10 years of starting businesses, traveling the world, and exploring the things I'm passionate about. Now I would like to share a blueprint for how you can do all of these things and more. Are you ready?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. Books are so cheap and what they can teach us is so much better than making mistakes the hard way that I think buying this and other similar books is the smartest thing we can do before blowing 10k on an oversight.

What about Jesse Krieger’s performance did you like?

Jesse is a great narrator and I found it a pleasant read.

What did you learn from Lifestyle Entrepreneur that you would use in your daily life?

There were a few apps and several techniques for structuring sales teams that I'm taking away. I would have taken a lot more away but I've read and listened to forty other books prior that in total covered much of the material in this book. You will get a lot more than I did if you haven't already read 40 books on similar topics.

    Any additional comments?

I appreciate the focus on quality of life. This book shares stories about successful individuals who are living their dreams around the world and using their business to fund their lifestyle.

In The First Tycoon, Stiles offers the first complete, authoritative biography of this titan, and the first comprehensive account of the Commodore's personal life. It is a sweeping, fast-moving epic, and a complex portrait of the great man. Vanderbilt, Stiles shows, embraced the philosophy of the Jacksonian Democrats and withstood attacks by his conservative enemies for being too competitive. He was a visionary who pioneered business models.
