In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October, 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world.

    "I loved it!"

Incredible voyage is an understatement. Personally, I thought this book was outstanding. The reader was fantastic, truth be told I could listen to him talk about paint drying... The human ability to persevere is truly amazing. I will never complain of the cold weather again.

The great pyramids of Giza have intrigued humanity for thousands of years. Questions about the construction and the purpose of these majestic monuments have existed since the middle period of ancient Egyptian civilization; in the sixth century B.C., Herodotus was the first of generations of explorers to travel to Egypt in an attempt to unlock their secrets. Recent cutting-edge research has uncovered information, unimaginable to previous generations, about how and why they were built.

I am not an Egyptologist but have always been fascinated with Egypt, the pyramids etc. I had a hard time following the names, places, and relevance of facts. I think someone more versed in the subject would get a lot out if it.

Captain Kidd has gone down in history as America's most ruthless buccaneer. However, Captain William Kidd was no career cut-throat; he was a tough, successful New York sea captain who was hired to chase pirates. Across the oceans of the world, the pirate hunter, Kidd, pursued the pirate, Culliford. One man would hang in the harbor; the other would walk away with the treasure. The Pirate Hunter is both a masterpiece of historical detective work and a page-turner.

Karen says: "Aaaargh Matey, Listen to this tale!"
    "I couldn't finish it"
    Overall

This book may absolutely fantastic but I couldn't finish listening to it, the reader (in my opinion) was simply terrible. His voice made me want to drive my car off the road and into a tree, monotonal no emotion...
