Former allies in the IRA, Sean Dillon and Martin Brosnan have chosen different paths. Now Dillon is a terrorist for hire, a master of disguise employed by Saddam Hussein. Brosnan is the one man who knows Dillon’s strengths and weaknesses…and brilliant mastery of espionage. Once friends, now enemies, they are playing the deadliest game of their careers. I know that sounds like an odd title for any Cornwell book. This one is so intriguing on so many levels. Whose cause of death is Scarpetta going to discover next? The story moves from one tragic and ugly scene to another keeping the reader guessing and then getting things all figured out only to come to the next twist in the road. That's why reading PC"s novels is always a pleasure.

New York's Lombardo's Steak House is famous for three reasons--the menu, the clientele, and now, the gruesome murder of an infamous mob lawyer. Seated at a nearby table, reporter Nick Daniels is conducting a once-in-a-lifetime interview with a legendary baseball bad-boy. Shocked and shaken, he doesn't realize that he's accidentally captured a key piece of evidence. Ensnared in the city's most sensational crime in years, Nick investigates for a story of his own.

I like a book that does that -- keep you guessing all along the way. I think the title was perfect -- don't blink when you read this or you may miss something. Not the Patterson characters I am used to so it took awhile to find some affinity. Worth the effort.

An Eye-Opener for my generation -- the 60-somethings -- we were raised on the traditional redacted history books of the public school system. Even though modern times opened our eyes to many things through assassinations and wars and political struggles, we never imagined history the way it really was. Yes, it does go on and on, but this book is well worth the read. I couldn't stop talking about it with my family. I feel as though I only absorbed 1/4 of what was new to me. Thank you James W Loewen!
