    Tyler Murphy was an LAPD detective, single and happy - until a near-fatal tragedy crippled his friend, fellow detective Eric Catalano. While Tyler supported Eric, he also became a shoulder for Eric's wife, Delaney, to lean on. But with one naughty suggestion from Eric, a drunken night with Delaney spilled into erotic abandon. Before it was over, Tyler saw his best friend's wife as a woman and yearned for more. When Eric struggled to deal with the aftermath, Delaney begged Tyler to leave.

    What made the experience of listening to Mine to Hold the most enjoyable?

    The romance was conventional - no BDSM.

    Who was your favorite character and why?

    Tyler, 'bad' boy turns devoted.

    What about Lexi Maynard’s performance did you like?

    She is exceptional-as always. I love her 'voice' of Jack.

    Any additional comments?

    My only criticism is that there was a lot of repetition...I don't know if Black thinks the reader will forget why the characters are doing what they are doing...it feels like being hit over the head with the basic facts every 15-30 minutes. Other than that, perfection.

    NOTE: Content includes strong language and descriptions of sex.

    What made the experience of listening to Tempting the Player the most enjoyable?

    I'm stingy with my stars, so to receive 5*'s in all categories is difficult for MOST to achieve.

    What a fantastic book! The plot was great and if you can accept the founding premise (it was a bit 'unrealistic,' but this IS fiction.)

    Tempting the Player was one of the few listens that actually pulled at my heartstrings a bit (that IS a feat, as I have a cold, black heart.) I really like J. Lynn aka Jennifer L. Armentrout. I will continue with this series. I will also check out more of her work-with caution as most of her work is YA, not a genre I like - but thus far, her contemporary, adult category books all sound good.

    The bad boy baseball player needs to clean up his reputation as a player (off the field) in order to keep his baseball contract. He meets the beautiful friend of his sister-in-law and they are instantly attracted to one another. However, unlike the usual plot one might expect from a book in this style, it takes them a while to discover their feelings for one another, good or bad.

    The boring, self deprecating girl is offered and then blackmailed to play the part of the girlfriend for a month or so. The book is a bit unique even though the plot seems like it has been done before. It is not a deep and dark-no past abuse, etc. If you like JC Burton and her Players Series then I think you will like this book as well.

    Kaleo Griffith's performance cannot be topped. Griffith is very good, as always. My only tiny gripe with him is that his way of feminizing female characters is to speak with a lisp. That is a peeve of mine and should not render into your decision whether or not to listen to this book.

    Note: Mature themes and strong language

    Credit worthy: Absolutely.

    Is there anything you would change about this book?

    This book was not at all what I expected. It was about the life of Timothy Blaine and it did include the down and gory details that one would expect from an autobiography with this title. The theme of consistent and continual presence of how God brought him from beginning to end was ever present throughout the book. In his first paragraph Blaine states that this is his testimony so I should have not been surprised.

    Books like these usually tell all the gory details and then spend a minute or two on redemption at the very end of the book. This difference, to me, was profound and it made me think about things-mainly, my preconceived ideas. However, listening to the way it is written I forgot about some of the very strong opinions and just felt what the author wrote. A testimony from a unique perspective.

    I really, really liked and appreciated Jay Prichard's narration. He made me feel what he was reading, even though this topic is almost completely foreign to me. I did speed it up a little bit, to 1.25 X because I prefer to 'listen bit faster.' Prichard's performance/voice is very soothing. He is a good storyteller and a real professional. Keeping me engaged in a topic I wouldn't normally listen to.

    Note: There is NOTHING graphic, but there are descriptions of drug and alcohol use, prostitution & gay lifestyle

    Credit worthy/$: *I was asked to listen to this book in exchange for my review.* This is not a topic I would pick out on my own, but I feel I am a better person for reading it. It is pretty powerful. It is a short book just over 3 1/2 hours so I would not use a credit for it and the price tag is a little bit high for such a short book, in my opinion.

    Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

    Long Road Home

    I love, love, love this book. It is more like MB KGI series then the Sweet series. More action, adventure and enough romance to keep you interested if you are the romantic sort.

    I am unaware if this is a book in a series. I hope so because it is a good start. If you have listened to a lot of MB books you will notice some of the phrases and terms that are familiar, but not too many. The story is a standalone. I do hope she continues with this though.

    Narrator, Rebecca Estrella I have heard before. She has narrated one of my favorite series. The trick with Rebecca is that you need to set your reader to a faster speed. I find that 1.5 or 2X is the best for me.

    Rebecca is able to give each character a voice. I do think she did a better job with this book than the others I've listened to. She is a narrator, not a performer. She is steady & I do think she stepped it up a notch this one.

    Note: Mature themes, strong language and some violence

    Credit/ $ Worthy: Yes, yes this is creditworthy and yes worth to pay cash. MB's books are usually pretty reasonable to inexpensive.

    One of the enduring yet little-examined themes in Civil War lore is the widespread belief that on the field of battle and afterward, members of Masonic lodges would give aid and comfort to wounded or captured enemy Masons, often at great personal sacrifice and danger. This work is a deeply researched examination of the recorded, practical effects of Freemasonry among Civil War participants on both sides.

    This book read more like a textbook then anything else. That is not a complaint, just an observation. It is a collection of accounts regarding Freemasons and their behavior during wartime. Most showing how being a Freemason granted you special treatment by your brothers even if they were on the opposing side of the The Civil War.

    I was hoping to learn more about this secret society and I did learn a few bits, but it was not the tell all that I had hoped it to be.

    Jack Chekijian did an excellent job reading the text; the material could have been very monotonous. Chekijian was very steady. However, in times when warranted you could hear the excitement, sadness, confusion, etc. in his voice. I really enjoyed this narration and the performance of Jack Chekijian. He kept what could have been considered a textbook interesting to me.

    Notes: A few gory details regarding battlefields

    Creditworthy and/or $: This was not for me but for any U.S. history buff it would be an interesting read. A Freemason would probably find the subject matter really interesting. *I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my thoughts and a review.* While I would not use a credit or purchase this book for my personal library. I'm certain there is an audience out there who would really not blink to buy this.

    Meghan Kelly ABSOLUTELY...T.H. Snyder, I'm not sure.

    Touch me

    I'm on the fence with this book. It was really good and under the category of 'Contemporary Romance. It was a sweet story and a bit unique which is hard to do in this day and age, I enjoyed it.

    However there was not much 'romantic' action until almost 3/4 of the way into the book. As quickly as it arrives, it is over - it is descriptive but not overly graphic. But it was certainly more that you would find in the young adult romance, I would hope.

    I am not a reader of young adult books because I'm a grown up. :-) I cannot say or compare this to anything in that genre. However I would consider it a well-written young adult book with several mature scenes.

    Megan Kelly is an exceptional performer and I am very impressed with her narration. The author wrote in a way where the male point of view is expressed and then the female point of view is expressed. Meghan's female was almost perfect and her performance of male was very believable. I am always impressed and respect performers who are able to perform the opposite gender in a believable way. When I forget the gender of the performer because I am listening to the story that is a good sign.

    Notes: Some descriptions of sex

    Credit worthy/ $: *I was given this copy in exchange for my thoughts and this review.* If I had purchased it I may have been unhappy. I would not spend a credit on it nor would I recommend to anyone who likes the genre I love.

    I would recommend this for those who like young adult (with reservation - for the mature scenes.)

    I WILL be looking for more of this narrators work.

    This was a REALLY interesting book. It was about terrorism and counter terrorism, however carried through it a religious belief. It actually worked. I cannot recall any strong language.

    There were some descriptions of violence but other than that it was very descriptive and didn't seem to need all the extra that you find in most books in this genre: Political thriller/counterterrorism

    I think that this author had may have just received a new customer.

    I did get a little bit lost about three quarters of the way into it but was able to get back on track and things made sense from then on. The only downside was that there were a lot of characters and at times it me made it difficult for me to keep up. However, this is the 3rd book in the series so if I had read the others first I may have kept up better.

    ~~~~~~~~~~
    Troy Klein's narration and his ability to give each character his/her own voice and THAT differentiation between all the male characters and the few female characters, made it much easier to stay on track then if I had been listening to another narrator.
    I enjoyed his ability to portray females, which is always difficult for a man to do. And as I said, each of the male roles had its own unique characteristics this did help me follow along.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~

    Notes: Some descriptions of violence

    Credit worthy/$: I'm on the fence about whether or not I would buy the books in the series, but only because I have many many more to listen to before I'll allow myself to purchase anymore.

    Bluegrass State of Mind

    This was a sweet and safe romance read. There are several important characters that didn't make sense in small-town Kentucky -a Sultan Prince?!?

    There was enough mystery to keep me interested but if you like a lot of descriptive 'romance' than this book will leave you frustrated.(D.M.T.)

    It IS part of a series but I do not think I will continue because it was a little too 'good' for me. Also, Audible does not have any others in the series.

    Not bad for $1.99 and this is my second listen.

    Have Me

    The next addition to the Stark TRILOGY (ended with Complete Me) collection. This was basically another installment of the excessive and wealthy Damion Stark taking his wife on a honeymoon. There are bits of trouble but lots and lots of romance.

    This is the 2 chapter (novella) AFTER the Series has 'finished'. I am annoyed with author/publishers who continue offering bits to readers AFTER the book should be put to rest. However, as a fan I'm guilty of continuing to buy them!

    This is billed/compared to as a Fifty Shades of Grey style book. I have not read any of the Fifty Shades books so I cannot comment on if it is similar or different. I enjoy this author (J. Kenner) and once you accept the premise it is a very enjoyable series.

    Sophia is ALWAYS spot on in her performances. This book was no different.

    However if you read the previous Stark novels you will want to buy this

    Again this is a small addition to the series. It seems that authors continue to write even pass what they had plans. For example a three book series like Stark now has three books and releasing two novellas. It's nice to check back in with them. I have a love-hate relationship with trilogy novellas.

    Is there anything you would change about this book?

    My Review - Disclaimer - I RARELY listen to short stories as they frustrate me. So please remember this as you read my review.

    Blade of Hearts

    I really appreciated it but it was a bit confusing to follow. It felt like too much was crammed into the short time. It really intrigued me, however the scenes changed so quickly & there were a lot of characters to get to know, but no time to. It was hard for me to follow who was who and what the bad guy was doing or who he was. Perhaps it is me who requires the extra time, others may be able to follow without confusion.

    I'd encourage the author to write a full-length version-I would be a customer- as it would cover a lot of the things in this short. If he did allow more time, this reader would be better able to sort out the characters and would better understand the dynamics and relationship relationships.

    Overall, I did like it but found it a bit confusing because of time restraints.

    ~~~~~~~~
    The Plumber – this short had some really powerful moments. The husband needs to go to the home improvement store to fix the hot water in the shower so he and his wife can continue their conservation of water.
    Suddenly they are involved in a hostage type situation and series of events unfold. It was worth my time to listen and had me snickering as well as paying attention to the seriousness of the situation. Another that I'd LOVE to hear at full-length but was perfect, understandable and tied up nicely as it ended.
    ~~~~~~~~~~

    Red Ghost - In the final book we meet a main character who was pivotal in the first book ( Novella). I think that if that were first it would've helped me by shedding light on who this guy it.

    This was too short a short, that introduced us to different characters. In Red Ghost it was very difficult for me to follow the story, but I may have to listen again. What I think I understood was that it was about an elderly gentleman/former serviceman who is robbed by some younger guys. But I was not really able to follow the red ghost part of it. It may have been that he was in special forces and got a new name and identity but other than that it was a bit tough for me to follow because of many details.

    Again, I encourage the author to write or expand this book -its only drawback was too much info in too little time.

    Narrator (author is well): He is one of the best male narrators that I've heard. He had to do male and female characters and they were believable [except for the high-pitched person with the secret.]

    NOTES: Violence

    Credit and/or $ Worthiness: I would not use one of my credits for this short story HOWEVER if the author work to expand his first story into a full-length seven or eight hour listen, I would very seriously consider using a credit. I was fortunate to be *to be chosen to listen to this book in exchange for my thoughts and reviews.*

    What did you like best about Tempting the Best Man? What did you like least?

    -

    This is a book about the brother getting married. His younger sister has had a childhood crush on his best friend (The Best Man.)

    The celebrations are planned for a weekend, but alas they they have rented all the rooms out except for the honeymoon suite. Silly, but o.k. the hero (BM) & heroine are stuck together in the luxurious honeymoon suite. She doesn't want him to know that she has crushed on him for so long. He doesn't want to mess up the relationship with his best friend.

    A rather cute listen and although there were some descriptions of sex they are not nearly as graphic as others I have listened to.

    Overall enjoyable, the great narrator Kaleo Griffith never disappoints. Men sound like men and women sound like a man talking about women. He doesn't go all lisping over to a woman's voice which I love!

    Notes: Mature Scenes & A Swear or 3

    Credit/$worthiness: This is a tough one because it is only four hours long. I have a rule about purchasing anything shorter than seven hours with my credit. It must have been on sale.
