Jo Marie Rose first arrives in Cedar Cove seeking a sense of peace and a fresh start. She purchases a local bed-and-breakfast - the newly christened Rose Harbor Inn - ready to begin her life anew. Yet the inn holds more surprises than Jo Marie can imagine. Her first guest is Joshua Weaver, who has come home to care for his ailing stepfather. The two have never seen eye to eye, and Joshua has little hope that they can reconcile. But a long-lost acquaintance from Joshua's high school days proves to him that forgiveness is never out of reach and love can bloom even where it's least expected.

If you could sum up The Inn at Rose Harbor in three words, what would they be?

Debbie successfully painted Rose Harbor in my mind! The story had a strong message and well played to the end. We immediately went to the second book to continue our fantasy.

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

Her tone set the pace and comes across clear.

Born a generation apart and with very different ideas about love and family, Mariam and Laila are two women brought jarringly together by war, by loss, and by fate. As they endure the ever escalating dangers around them, in their home as well as in the streets of Kabul, they come to form a bond that makes them both sisters and mother-daughter to each other, and that will ultimately alter the course not just of their own lives but of the next generation.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

    Nothing

    Any additional comments?

Just a hard subject matter to follow. I lost interest in the first CD, but tried to give it the benefit and continued.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Good narration and the story line keeps you wondering. Can't wait to start the next book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bob, the scull. He had an edge about him and the voice sounded like an English butler.

Which character – as performed by James Marsters – was your favorite?

    Harry, the lead.

Her career in homicide has taken her into the darkest depths of New York City’s underground - and sometimes Lieutenant Eve Dallas feels more comfortable in those kinds of places than in the high-rise, high-society world of her billionaire husband, Roarke. But while she’s no party girl, she’s managing to have a reasonably good time at the celebrity-packed bash celebrating the debut of The Icove Agenda. This time it’s Eve, not Roarke, who’s a guest of honor, since the film is based on one of her famous cases.

Call it Kinsey Millhone in bad company. Call it a mystery without a murder, a treasure hunt without a map, a quest novel with truly mixed-up motives. Call it the return of Kinsey as a bad girl, quick-witted and quicksilvery, poking her nose into everybody's dirty laundry as she joins up with a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde in an Our Gang comedy that will take her halfway across the country and leave her with a major headache and an empty bank balance.

Was L Is for Lawless worth the listening time?

    50% YES / 50% NO

    Any additional comments?

My husband and I have almost all of Sue Grafton's books. We enjoyed all but this one. Must have been an off year.
