I like the characters as I have all the way through the books, especially Macon and Link. Sadly though, even with the wonderful light relief of Link, this book was just too depressing. I want to escape into this kind of story, not be depressed.
I need chocolate and a glass of wine as now I'm depressed!
After Link Kills Abraham.
The same stars as the Beautiful Creatures Movie, but this shouldn't be made into Movie, again, I want an escape when I go to the Movies.
I loved the promise of this series and enjoyed the first two books, but the last two were just way to serious. The over all tone was too dark and depressing, there was too much death and sadness for me. I had to know what it was all about so finished the series, but in the end it was still sad and also an awful lot to get to a fairly weak conclusion.
Silly, but very clever as well as highly entertaining.
I will certainly download more of these from earlier in the series.
Yes, the narrator really brings life to the characters and the story.
Each of the boys has an endearing character trait and elicits a emotional response form the reader or listener. Blue is an interesting character too. All of the main characters are relatable, and easy to care for.
Emotion and life.
Pretty much, yes.
No, I know the story now, I don't tend to relisten to books like this. Looking forward to the next one though.
I like the supernatural slant and the cast of characters.
This is a really great supernatural series which has got better as its gone on. The main character was a little hard to warm to at first, but then so is Harry Dresden. The supporting characters balance him out. I want to know more about Demitri!!
Noooo, this was such a yawn. Just kept going on with nothing really happening and I never felt engaged with any of the characters. Not sure if it was the narrators reading or the story, but probably both. I gave up and I love stories with magic in them!
If I hadn't read other better ones it might have done.
I think his reading was slightly dead and cold, he didn't make the listener engage or care about anyone. His reading lacked emotion.
Most of them, the story needed to get to the point.
Very disappointing, I thought this was going to be another discovery of witches. It was not!
Because its read so well and the story has such interesting characters.
Not exactly edge of my seat, but it was very compelling and well paced.
He's excellent reading this story, I wasn't expecting him to be so good. He brings the perfect tone and level of emotion to the characters and a lovely little Cornish twang when he's voicing Strike. I suppose he brings the story and Characters to life.
Every time Strike has to deal with his emotions and or his damaged leg.
This is more then a detective novel. And so NOT Harry Potter. JK Rowling tells a great mystery story and introduces us to a new cast of characters that I want more of! Would be great as a miniseries.
Its not truly great or anything, but its a fun listen, well read with a decent story. Middle ranking I'd say.
I love this narrator, she has a lovely Southern twang that makes the story.
I love the southern vibe in this story and the introduction of the little town and its inhabitants. I'm intrigued to read more about them.
The basic premise of this story was good, but it just went on too long. There was too much backwards and forwards and meandering. Ok overall.
Given the book a storyline and some cohesion.
They were ok. I couldn't get into the characters, I just didn't care. I'm not sure if any narrator could have made this better?
None. I gave up with book as I couldn't get into it and switched to the audio version hoping it would be better. I read a lot and have a varied range of tastes. This book was a boring mish mash that seemed to go on and on with no real point. Total waste of my time. Arrrrrgggggh!
Not worth a credit! I question whether all the people who rave about this author have actually read his books!
This story follows on well from the first book and was in many ways much better with a stronger faster pace. The narrator is excellent and having just finished this book, I can't wait for the next one. What will happen next?
Among the top ones.
When the group realize the truth about Noah.
Adam's home situation.
This is a book meant for a young adult/youth audience, but I rarely let such classifications put me off, even though I am far from a teen myself. I've read all of this authors other books and find them to be very refreshing. They offer Supernatural fiction with a nice twist of darkness. The stories have a fairy tale type quality that I find hypnotic and some truly interesting characters. I love the way the author let's us learn about her characters, and am already in love with these boys, although each of them is totally different. This tale is no different from the others in that it has several layers to it which I can't wait to unfold. Looking forward to the next. Will Patton is a great narrator for this story.
