This is a book that you'll find really hard to put down. The characters are well thought out, the plot is full of life, and the dramatic ending leaves you wanting to know more about the main character, Sugar Beth! The reader does an excellent job of voicing all the characters. I love a book that stays with you for hours or days after you've finished reading it, this is definitely one of those books!
Donna Tart did an excellent job of character building, plot development and story telling in this wonderful book about Theo and the "Goldfinch" painting. You find yourself wanting to climb inside the book and help him to figure out these difficult times. I could not put this book down from start to finish and found myself still thinking about Theo, Boris and all the other characters long after finishing the book. Not only is the book well written the narrator is able to perform the book so perfectly by capturing each character's personality. I felt like I was living the in the story thanks so such a wonderfully written and narrated book! Buy this one today, you will NOT be sorry!!
I loved this book, the story line and the characters. The whole idea of something like this happening is here. Why didn't I give it a 5 for overall? I would have loved to see what happened after? Because it just ended..It left me going, what what? Is he writing another book? It - Just - Ended! LOL!
I've read almost all of Fannie's books and this one didn't fall short! I loved the story line, the characters and her ability to make you feel like you were a part of the story. I almost felt like I was listening to my life story, Lenore was my mother.. and almost all mom's of the deep south. Fannie is an amazing story teller and her performance really made the book even better. I'm so glad that I decided to listen to it instead of reading it.
Such a wonderful feel-good, vacation book. Read it, you won't be disappointed!!
I was born and raised in Mississippi in the 60s. This book struck home for me. I found myself thinking, "Why didn't I write this?" I can remember my mother saying a lot of things these women said and the portrayal of southern history was spot on. We had a maid growing up named Suzy and she reminded me so much of Aibileen. I still think of Suzy to this day and wonder where she is. She was my 2nd mom and I loved her so dearly. When I was a teenager I came home and she was just gone.. I never knew why.
This book is amazingly written and the characters are developed in such a way you feel like you know each and every one personally.
This is an outstanding book but mainly if you sit and "read" it. The book is a very complicated read but absolutely amazing if you take the time to actually read it. Listening to it, on the other hand, I found to be extremely difficult. While trying to listen, I found myself rewinding and re-listening to parts constantly causing much frustration and confusion. This book is not really meant for listening pleasure unless your IQ is way above average. If you have time to concentrate on your listen, you may be able to get through it. Once I sat down and read the book, I decided to give it another listen and I found the narrator to be amazing and intriguing. After reading the actual book, I had no trouble listening to it. I actually loved hearing it and got more out of it. If you find yourself unable to listen, sit down and give it a read. You'll Love it!
Loved this book! The entire book was engaging and kept me listening right to the end. One time I even had to put it down and run out of the room a minute to catch my breath. The characters were developed in such a way, I felt like I knew them. The writing was amazing and I found myself back in the 50s with the constant need to google things he wrote about. If you love historical fiction, you will love this book. Great job King!
Yes, it has a great story line and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
What I liked best was how well written and thought out the story line was. The author went to great links to show how mentally ill people can really be. It makes you wonder what really goes on out there in the world.
They both really acted the parts. I feel like I was really listening to Nick and Amy!
No but I found myself getting upset and saying OMG a lot.
I really enjoyed this book. I can see that the author has many more plans for Nick and Amy. The cliffhanger at the end really left me saying "NO DON'T END NOW!!!"
50 Shades of Grey was a great book but not a good listen. The reader sounded so much like an 80s valley girl it was hard to concentrate on the book itself. I would not rank this one high on my favorites of audiobooks.
Christian Grey is a man that most women wish they'd met when they were single and 21.
This outstanding book was ruined by the reader. Someone with a young voice but more educated sounding would have really made the audiobook live up to it's written word. Anastasia Steele is educated so why is a Valley Girl from the 80s reading this awesome book?
I was very upset by the reader and performance. I read the actual book and wanted to hear the audio book. I was extremely upset at how Anastasia Steele was portrayed.
Read the real book, the audio ruines it.
The beginning of this story starts out very slow but it's needed to set the groundwork for an amazing and action pack story filled with history, war, romance and time travel. Once you make it through the first few chapters you won't be able to stop listening. The reader has an amazing voice and is able to bring the characters to life in your mind. The writer captures your heart and gives you the feeling that you are there with Claire and Jamie. I loved every minute of this book and you will too!
Another great romance for SEP! I really enjoyed listening to this one. As will all of SEP's novels, such great romance and excitement! This was one that was very hard to stop listening to. I found myself trying to hide my ipod at work just to get a quick chapter in to see what happened! You won't be sorry with this one!
