When America was attacked on 9/11, its citizens almost unanimously rallied behind its new, untested president as he went to war. What they didn't know at the time was that the Bush administration's highest priority was not to vanquish Al Qaeda, but to consolidate its own power at any cost. It was a mission that could be accomplished only by a propaganda presidency in which reality was steadily replaced by a scenario of the White House's own invention.

This is one of the most riveting books I have ever heard! Frank Rich puts you right in the middle of the decision, you feel as if you are a part of the process. Once you start listening, you will never find a good place to stop until it is done!

History is rewritten in an instant as the future smashes into the past, and high-tech hardware goes head to head with World War Two technology. In the chaos that ensues, thousands are killed, but the maelstrom has only just begun. The veterans of Pearl Harbor have never seen a helicopter, or a cruise missile - let alone nanotechnology, ceramic bullets, and F22 Raptor stealth jetfighters. Allied and Axis forces are then caught in a desperate struggle to gain the upper hand.

I've been buying Audible books for years and this was the FIRST one I couldn't get through although I tried several times, I could never get past the 5th chapter. The way it was written seemed too broken up, and there were too many characters to keep track of with different timelines of their own.
I listen to books for enjoyment, I don't want to have to work for it.
The narrator really didn't help. It seemed really flat, not many inflections in his tone. I don't know whether that was just him or the author not putting in punctuation, either way, it was difficult for me to listen too.
I like the premise of the story, and the synopsis intrigued me, so this is just my opinion.

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership. In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires?

I downloaded this book on a lark, a try at something different than my normal fare. I am now going after 2 & 3! Unbelievable. I stuck it in my mind that this was "just" a vampire novel, one good against the rest, I totally missed the erotic romance part of the description, however, there was so much action going on it just flowed so that you got it, but it wasn't the most central thing. What a writer! Jeaniene Frost puts true depth into her characters, adds humor to the point that I actually had a belly busting laugh in quite a few spots! I rooted for the lead characters, I actually cared what happened to them. Several times I was on the edge of my seat, listening to what would happen next, and I can tell you, that wouldn't have been to easy if it wasn't for the narrator Tavia Gilbert. Her reading of this book brought life to the characters, you could actually "see" them in your minds eye, you could relate to their problems, the mental picture she paints with her style and intonations, inflections and emotion was superb!
I have been a member for three years, I read reviews, but really don't write them. After hearing this book, I couldn't help myself, I thought it was THAT good.
Get it, listen to it, you won't be sorry.
