Harper Lee’s Pulitzer prize-winning masterwork of honor and injustice in the deep south - and the heroism of one man in the face of blind and violent hatred, available now for the first time as a digital audiobook. One of the best-loved stories of all time, To Kill a Mockingbird has been translated into more than 40 languages, sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, served as the basis for an enormously popular motion picture, and was voted one of the best novels of the 20th century by librarians across the country.

Would you listen to To Kill a Mockingbird again? Why?

Over and over. The writer and the reader.. As I said -- they were made for each other.

What other book might you compare To Kill a Mockingbird to and why?

The Help... Story of the South... as the South began to accept change.

What does Sissy Spacek bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her understanding of the book and the time it depicts... and her raw talent ... all come together.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

There is a film, but it should be remade with more of the story depicted... It would win all the Academy Awards... I guarantee!

    Any additional comments?

    Don't miss this book....

  • The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism

Goodwin describes the broken friendship between Teddy Roosevelt and his chosen successor, William Howard Taft. With the help of the "muckraking" press, Roosevelt had wielded the Bully Pulpit to challenge and triumph over abusive monopolies, political bosses, and corrupting money brokers. Roosevelt led a revolution that he bequeathed to Taft only to see it compromised as Taft surrendered to money men and big business. The rupture led Roosevelt to run against Taft for president, an ultimately futile race that gave power away to the Democrats.

It's history that hasn't been told before. And no one can write history better than Doris Kearns Goodwin. Talking about a "progressive" Republican. Fighting some of the same battles being fought today.

To everyone else, John F. Kennedy Jr. may have been American royalty, but to RoseMarie Terenzio, he was an entitled nuisance—and she wasn’t afraid to let him know it. RoseMarie was his personal assistant, his publicist, and one of his closest confidantes during the last five years of his life. In this, her first memoir, she bravely recounts her own fairy tale interrupted, describing the unlikely friendship between a blue-collar girl from the Bronx and John F. Kennedy Jr.

Building on the tradition of Little Bee, Chris Cleave again writes with elegance, humor, and passion about friendship, marriage, parenthood, tragedy, and redemption. Gold is the story of Zoe and Kate, world-class athletes who have been friends and rivals since their first day of Elite training. They've loved, fought, betrayed, forgiven, consoled, gloried, and grown up together. Now on the eve of London 2012, their last Olympics, both women will be tested to their physical and emotional limits.

Would you listen to Gold again? Why?

My wife and I listened on a road trip. I didn't know how much she was enjoying till I offered to finish it and move on to another choice. Then we both agreed it was a good story, well told, and entertaining to the end. My wife and I don't often agree that much.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

A good look at the price of a gold medal.

It can feel like were swimming in a sea of corruption. It's unclear who exactly is in charge and what role they play. The same influential people seem to reappear time after time in different professional guises, pressing their own agendas in one venue after another. According to award-winning public policy scholar and anthropologist Janine Wedel, these are the powerful shadow elite, the main players in a vexing new system of power and influence.

In today's environment, it is easy to use fear to mount campaigns to ease those fears. The author helped me understand how people whose name may or may note be known can have power that reshapes a country, namely, the United States of America. To justify a greater and greater military-industrial complex, even a "Star Wars Defense", all you need is a small group who have found a way to have great influence on the needs of this country. I dare one to read this without wondering about our future.

    Overall

Krista Tippett writes a most interesting book about her life and its "struggle" with faith. Being a Christian myself, the "struggle" is something I identified with. Her discussions with so many persons throughout the book are great listening. The fact that she reads her own writing only improves the listening. A very enjoyable experience.

I believe she offers a voice that deserves a hearing. Perhaps she knew her demise was imminent. There is almost too much history of people we don't know, yet the last 2 hours of the book promoted good ideas for possible solutions that need more air. The reader was superb, and I did enjoy the read.

Reaching out to listeners of all religious backgrounds, Desmond Tutu shows us how to transform suffering into joy both in our lives and in our world. He tells us that God dreams of a world where laughter, love, and peace reign, and where we realize that we are all members of one family, God's family. In this extremely personal and liberating message, Father Tutu helps us "see with the eyes of the heart" and cultivate the qualities of forgiveness, humility, generosity, and courage.
