This novel winds its way through many lives. Too many. It is also hard to follow as it jumps forward and backward in time. The story line is interesting, but poorly developed in my judgement.
Very good and entertaining review of the history of baseball
Although Friedman gets too "political" in places, the vast majority of the book is simply excellent. It should be required reading so that everybody has a true understanding of our world economy.
Go for the abridged version. The unabridged is just too long. A lot of facinating detail. A lot of uninteresting detail. Rather dry but you'll learn a lot about how the allied powers divied up the world.
