Instead of saying "I do" to Mr. Irresistible, Lucy Jorik hitches a ride on the back of a beat-up motorcycle with a rough looking, bad-tempered stranger who couldn't be more foreign to her privileged existence. While the world searches for her, Lucy must search for herself, and she quickly realizes that her customary good manners are no defense against a man who's raised rudeness to an art form. Lucy needs to toughen up - and fast. Her great escape takes her to his rambling beach house on a Great Lakes island. Here, she hopes to find a new direction...and to unlock the secrets of this man who knows so much about her.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I am shocked by the high rating this is getting. I am a huge SEP fan and love most of her books, but this one was just not up to par. There was so much going on that you never really get attached to her to Lucy or patrick. Thenshe tried to throw every thing she could in. It turns out panda has everything and anything that he can. Plus, he is an orphan and then sayssonething about having his mom in a senior center. The voice usedfor Lucy sounds like a 50 year old woman and not a 30 year old lady. It just was very long without being really good.

    Just too much!!

What could Susan Elizabeth Phillips have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Eliminate some of the issues with Patrick, it was too much!!!! We get it, SEP believes in gay marriages. Stop pushing itdown our throats!! I am not reading these books to debate serious topics.

Could you see The Great Escape being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    No way!!"

He's a reclusive writer whose imagination creates chilling horror novels. She's a down-on-her-luck actress reduced to staging kids' puppet shows. He knows a dozen ways to kill his characters with his bare hands. She knows a dozen ways to kill an audience with laughs. But she's not laughing now.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I usually love her books, but this wasn't great. It actually took me weeks to listen to the entire thing because it just wasn't that interesting.

Then she calls on her childhood friend and protector, Finn MacBain, now with the FBI, and asks for his help.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This was just not good. I am a huge Julie Garwood fan , but I was so disappointed in this book. I wonder if she is using a ghost writer or something because this just didn't seem like it was written by julie.

Has Hotshot turned you off from other books in this genre?

    No

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator could have used a different tone for the lead role. Her voice just didn't fit.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Hotshot?

The beginning, the middle and the end

    Any additional comments?

I was really looking forward to this book but I was sadly disappointed.

Dr. Ellie Sullivan has just completed her residency at a large urban hospital. While jogging in a park nearby, she witnesses the shooting of an FBI agent in pursuit of wanted criminals, a couple identified as the Landrys. The only person to see the shooter’s face, Ellie is suddenly at the center of a criminal investigation. Agent Max Daniels takes over the Landry case. A no-nonsense lawman, he’s definitely not the ideal man that Ellie has always imagined, yet she’s attracted to him in a way she can’t explain. Max vows to be Ellie’s shadow until the trial, and it isn’t long before sparks fly....

I am a huge Julie Garwood fan and i was so excited to hear she was coming out with another book. BUT this was not up to her past levels. I felt like she took two or three sections from some of her books and just put them together and then called it a new book.

I wouldn't buy this, but if you have an extra credit, it might be worth it.
