Having played Halo 1,2, and 3 on Xbox; at the end of it all I found myself wanting more. More story, more answers, more pieces to the puzzle. This book gives you that! This book takes you back to the beginning where it all started. The story took a little time to grab me while I became acclimated to the setting and new characters but once it grabbed me I couldn't turn turn off my mp3 player. Holter Graham is pretty versatile in his characters, switching from one to the other in pretty believable fashion. My one nit pick would be his use of a sort of pseudo Scottish accent towards the end of the book for one of the characters you meet in the climax. It just sort of threw me off and took me out of the experience because the character is a Forerunner not a human. Like other reviewers, I too wished the story had kept going but I believe the authors’ intent was to leave us on the edge of our seats salivating for the next installment. I can’t wait for it to come out. Please disregard reviews by people disappointed in Greg Bear comparing his previous works to this one. If you’re not a Halo fan or a Sci-Fi fan of course you would have a harder time enjoying this book. If you are a Halo fan this book is most definitely you.
