Stretched to his limit, Tamas is relying heavily on his few remaining powder mages, including the embittered Taniel, a brilliant marksman who also happens to be his estranged son, and Adamat, a retired police inspector whose loyalty is being tested by blackmail. But when gods are involved.... Now, as attacks batter them from within and without, the credulous are whispering about omens of death and destruction. Just old peasant legends about the gods waking to walk the earth. No modern educated man believes that sort of thing. But they should....

Wow this is a great first installment in what looks to be a very promising series. The time and setting are completely their own and the characters are likable. The adventure is a of the grand military epic adventure flavor and it's all very well done.

Funnyman Adam Carolla is known for two things: hilarious rants about things that drive him crazy and personal stories about everything from his hardscrabble childhood to his slacker friends to the hypocrisy of Hollywood. He tackled rants in his first book, and now he tells his best stories and debuts some never-before-heard tales as well. Adam Carolla started broke and blue collar and has now been on the Hollywood scene for over 15 years. Yet he never lost his underdog demeanor.

Adam Carolla has lead a very interesting life. This book was well written and keeps you laughing the entire journey. From Adam's journey you get the sense that if this guy can make it there still might be hope for you. Additionally, you can't help but admire the man's grit and honesty about his life and shenanigans. I'd pick up this book and save it for a time that your feeling a little down, because this is a great pick me up.

Normally I don't bother with books that are under 8 hours, but I have to confess this series is pretty awesome. The world of Warmachine has a depth and uniqueness all it's own. I don't play the table top game, but this book really made me fall in love with the world and I was very entertained.

This is an amazing book. Its been awhile since I could get really excited about a series. The Emperor's Blades is outstanding in every way. Its very well written and is set in a sweeping and imaginative world. The characters are likable and surprisingly deep. The action in this book is both fantastic yet gritty and real. This book really grabbed me and got me swept up in the story. Overall, I think this is a must have.

Private detective Matt Scudder investigates a series of kidnappings that always end in brutal murder. Best-selling author Lawrence Block takes us into the seedier back alleys and side-streets of New York City, rendering his subject with a gritty realism.

    Story

A Walk Among the Tombstones by Lawrence Block is really an outstanding novel. Some of the settings and investigative techniques may be a little dated, but it really is an awesome read. The plot to this one will get you hooked and keep you there. The only draw back to this novel is that the narrator was indeed really bad. I would love to see this work redone with someone with more range and skill. Mark Hammer makes all the characters sound like their 80. The whole book seems like it was recorded in a nursing home, which is a shame because this one is really quite exceptional.

This series is amazing and very well written. Plot and setting very well done. As a New Yorker I felt the city was well represented and turned into a mystifying place. The Foe is hot on the heels of our hero's in this one and the odds seem stacked against them.
