A little over 100 years ago, East Africa was terra incognita to most whites: a land largely unmapped, sparsely settled by Europeans, and teeming with wildlife. It was the hunter-adventurer's paradise, and by the early 20th century, a small, lionhearted clan of explorers and big-game hunters began leading safaris there for money.

Stephen says: "A fascinating account ...."
    "Must Listen for Safari Lovers."

If you could sum up White Hunters in three words, what would they be?

    Exciting, Historical, Dangerous.

What was one of the most memorable moments of White Hunters?

Many memorable moments of great hunts and I found the history very interesting.

What about Robert Whitfield’s performance did you like?

Robert Whitfield did an awesome job in bringing the many short stories to life. He was very easy to listen to.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The story of larger than life men who layed it all on the line for others who wanted the adventure of a lifetime.

    Any additional comments?

I loved this book and have listened to it two times now. I have been interested in hunting in Africa for many years now and am going on my first safari later this year. This book gave me a historical reference into the lives of the men who laid the foundation for the hunting industry in the Dark Continent.

While Europeans go mad, corporations turn tyrannous, and the legend of a great ivory hunter is dangled before him, Marlow observes everything with a keen eye as we journey with him into the Belgian Congo and the Heart of Darkness.

    M. says: "A great read of a classic novel"
    "Very Dark Story"

I'm glad I listened having never read any Joseph Conrad before, but it will be a one time listen I'm sure. It was about the ivory trade in Africa and was a very dark story. Not really my style!
