Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to deliver an evening lecture in the U.S. Capitol. Within minutes of his arrival, the night takes a bizarre turn. A disturbing object is discovered in the Capitol Building. The object is an ancient invitation, meant to usher its recipient into a long-lost world of hidden esoteric wisdom. And when Langdon's mentor is kidnapped, Langdon's only hope of saving him is to accept this invitation and follow wherever it leads him.

Dan Brown is an author that doesn't shy away from controversy. I can imagine the message could be offensive to some "sheep" that flock to simple interpretations (milk for children) of scriptures. However, I really enjoyed it and thought both the plot and the message were very appropriate for our time. I also enjoyed the depth of information and history surrounding the subject matter. It brings light to subjects and ideas that need illumination. Can't wait for the movie.

In a time long forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons off balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. As the cold returns, sinister forces are massing beyond the protective wall of the kingdom of Winterfell. To the south, the king's powers are failing, with his most trusted advisor mysteriously dead and enemies emerging from the throne's shadow.

    Story
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

First of all LOVED the series, second Roy Dotrice (the reader) portrays the characters wonderfully and moves you through this intriguing, complex labyrinth like a movie. I was late to work several times sitting in the parking lot waiting for a scene to finish. Love books like that.

What did you like best about this story?

Very complex and well defined. Most books are like american movies where the good guys always win at the end. This story is more real than that. Treachery, sex and honor.

Which character – as performed by Roy Dotrice – was your favorite?

Hard to say there are so many wonderful characters. Tyrion Lannister, Arya Stark, Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen are my favorites.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Winter is coming

    Any additional comments?

The HBO Series based on these books follows the story line very, very close and is a must watch. Of course after you listen to the books.

Every politician has a secret. And when the daughter of a politically connected family is kidnapped abroad, America's new president will agree to anything - even a deadly and ill-advised rescue plan - in order to keep his secret hidden.

As a book I thought this was an average listen, however, the secret service aspect of this story was totally unbelievable and ridicules. The other plot of this book had potential but feel way short.

Great book, couldn't stop listening. Only problem is that you have withdrawals when it ends. Hoping for the continued adventures of Mitch and friends.
