Museum curator Summer Hawthorne considered the exquisite ice-blue ceramic bowl given to her by her beloved Japanese nanny a treasure of sentimental value, until somebody tried to kill her for it.

    Carey says: "Intense"
    "Much Better than Ice Cold"
    Overall

The characters are much more believable than Ice Cold. Narration was much better. Still weak in the plot but pretty interesting and somewhat original (which is important to me)

Where does Growing up Dead rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As an adult that enjoy YA fiction I have to say this is awesome. Well written and entertaining. Smooth transitions, fairly strong characters for a first novel of a writer. Mortimer (even with the geeky name) could be any child out there. If you are a fan of Harry Potter OR Vampire Chronicles you have to check this out. I sure hope the rest of this series gets put on audio...AND SOON!

What other book might you compare Growing up Dead to and why?

Harry Potter for the YA side, very well written strong characters. The Vampire Chronicles for the whole mythology and vamp thang.

What does Maxwell Zener bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He was the weakest part of this book experience but NOT BAD AT ALL! I think it took him a little to warm up to the characters though.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No...it was just issues...but I had been waiting for it, AND WANT MORE! NOW!

What made the experience of listening to The New Madrid Run the most enjoyable?

    The IDEA for this story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The New Madrid Run?

When Travis went to Publix and Kmart. Very imaginative.

What three words best describe Cameron Beierle’s performance?

    ummm ehhhh OK

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

NO....very hum drum. Still worth the credit. I guess it was good for a first try and better than I could probably write. I hope he keeps trying. I'm not a Louis L fan sooo...

    Any additional comments?

I can't tell how much of the blandness of this book is from the writing and how much is from the reader.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

First TG does a great job of putting you in the action, THEN he makes you rehear what you just read/listened to while the character explains everything in extreme detail over and over again. I think Mr. Goodkind thinks his readers are either stupid or have memory problems. Couldn't finish this mess.

What was most disappointing about Terry Goodkind’s story?

That he lacks imagination to at least find new words to repeat the same thing over and over again. Get this man a thesaurus.

What three words best describe Kellie Fitzgerald’s voice?

    Pretty Good B-

What character would you cut from The First Confessor?

    THE FIRST CONFESSOR

Would you listen to Second Grave on the Left again? Why?

Love me some Charlie Davidson. Yes, she is sooo much like Stephanie Plum...but so what. Mrs Jones admits to that, so I see no problem with it, not enough Stephanie's in the world. Lorelei King does amazing as always. Keeps me interested, minor twists so I don't KNOW what's going to happen next. Gimme more!

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

Her AMAZING voices! Perfect inflection and cadence.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Charlie Davidson ALWAYS make me LOL...gotta watch that when at WalMart alone :D

Best selling author Anne Rice reveals the dark, eerie beauty of the 18th-century Italian society of the castrati: the castrated males - sterile yet sexually functional - who were celebrated and adored for their glorious soprano voices. She draws the listener into the castrati's strange and luminous world of extraordinary decadence, opulence, and brutality.

    "Great for an abridged"

I would like to recommend this to people who just want a "taste" of Anne Rice or who have read this book before but need a refresher. This story is amazing! THe characters come to life even in this version. But if you do like this...get the hard copy.

In a not-too-distant future that is not quite ours, there has been a major scientific breakthrough. It is a way to open windows into the past, permitting historical researchers to view, but not participate, in the events of the past.

In one of the most powerful and thought-provoking novels of his remarkable career, Orson Scott Card interweaves a compelling portrait of Christopher Columbus with the story of a future scientist who believes she can alter human history from a tragedy of bloodshed and brutality to a world filled with hope and healing.

One of the world's most famous intellectual ghost stories, The Turn of the Screw is a haunting tale of suspected supernatural possession. A governess at a country house claims that Miles and Flora, two orphaned children in her care, are being controlled by spirits for some evil purpose. No one else can see the ghosts, and the children themselves are silent. Are they being dominated by spectral forces, or are they hiding something? Is the governess simply paranoid, or is something else going on?

    Overall

One of the worst written books I've ever encountered. The main character, Isabel (can't believe I remember her name, she was that boring) is SUPPOSED to be an ice cold, hard, strong ect ect, woman. Right off the bat she is made into a romatic moron. Secret agents do not make the mistakes that ALL of these characters do. Killian got cold? She left her purse unguarded and neither thought of him excaping through the dumb waiter? Stupid.
