This has been my favourite audio book. Julia delivers it like a stand up routine, with thoughtful moments that are inspiring. I never knew of her work before I happened upon this, and will now look into everything else she has done. Its really fun, intelligent and humble.
Wow, this is a great book. The understanding of deep time and the authors real experiences splashed in to add colour. There is so much amazing information which has made me the life of dinner party conversation as I spout bits of knowledge from this great book.
This book is a primer for understanding our world, breaking down racism, western superiority even understanding our natural environment. It covers the whole path of humanity and dispels common myths... just download it.
The performance is good, although the topic is great I didn't quite notice the performance, or maybe that is the mark of a great performance?
There are moments of aha! When you a realise that our world, is the way it is, not through design but through circumstance. It’s quite fast paced, and one of the few books that I didn’t tune out for a minute or two.
This is great it should be required reading in schools, universities, churches even the bus.
There are very few facts here and condradiction after contradiction leaves your mind spinning. The writer uses so many critical points of argument that sometimes only paragraphs later he is doing the exact same thing. Statements like, "Intellectuals never even bother to look into why China and India are successful.." then "Intellectuals make broad statements about catagories of people and what they do."
I kind of enjoyed it, I spent most of the time facinated by the lifestyle of the era (1970's) and the research into the days of the time before. I kept expecting their posh bubble to burst but disappointingly it is not the point of the story, then again any point would have been good. Unless the point is that posh lives are pointless.
I fantastic book brilliently performed. I enyoyed this so much. Its so often we get books on gay subject matter which are depressing but this is an uplifting story which gives you a feel of Hollywood happiness that doesn't make you feel like you are being programmed into a Christian life style.
