    "Book good. . .narrator questionable"

I liked this book. I wish the first was on audible unabridged. The narrator, however, didn't emphasize the right word sometimes and was a little hokey in the accents. But the book was enjoyable none the less. 4 star book minus one for the narrator

  • A Man of Faith: The Spiritual Journey of George W. Bush

    • ABRIDGED (7 hrs and 55 mins)
    • By David Aikman
    • Narrated By David Aikman

More than any other world leader in recent times, George W. Bush is a man of faith...a conservative Christian who has brought the power of prayer and the search for God's will into the Oval Office. His faith has proven to be a bedrock of strength and resolve during two of the most tumultuous years in our nation's history.

    "Narrator detracts"

The book was good but narrator's accent over-done pronunciation, really detracted. It was not a smooth reading.

  • State of Fear

    • UNABRIDGED (18 hrs and 7 mins)
    • By Michael Crichton
    • Narrated By George Wilson

Once again Michael Crichton gives us his trademark combination of page-turning suspense, cutting-edge technology, and extraordinary research. State of Fear is a superb blend of edge-of-your-seat suspense and thought provoking commentary on how information is manipulated in the modern world.

F says: "Did I read the same book as some of you?"
"Characters compelling . . .story line hokey"

I liked the characters in the book, but the story line was just too unbelievable and all the conservation stuff got old after awhile.

  • Find a Husband After 35 Using What I Learned at Harvard Business School

    • ABRIDGED (4 hrs and 13 mins)
    • By Rachel Greenwald
    • Narrated By Rachel Greenwald

A Harvard MBA shares her revolutionary program for using marketing tactics to find a husband after age 35. Learn the answers to the following questions: What are the unique dating issues for women after 35 and how do I handle them? What are the small decisions I make daily that have an impact on my chances of meeting men? What is the "Date/Sex Rule"? What is the one thing I should never say to a man on a first date?

Christie says: "Maybe more useful in paper"
    "Maybe more useful in paper"

Although there were some good points made by the author, to actually put her program into practice you would need a paper copy of the book. Probably not the best book for an audio book.

Not a particularly useful book for the person who would like to be married but is basically happy with life. Program requires that "marriage" be your number one priority. Sorry, but I've got a life.

There were a few things that made me stop and think though.

  • The Beach House

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 57 mins)
    • By James Patterson, Peter de Jonge
    • Narrated By Gil Bellows
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Patterson's latest is "a slick, vastly enjoyable thriller." Jack Mullen's relentless crusade to discover the truth behind his younger brother's death puts him into a head-on collision with one of the most powerful and ruthless men in New York. As it unfolds that his brother was involved with some of the richest women and men in America - in ways Jack never imagined - his dream of justice fades. Only if he can somehow beat the rich at their own game will he be able to avenge his brother.

    B. Estes says: "Adventure and excitment"
    "Disappointed with ending"

I won't give it away - but I will say that I was disappointed with the ending. The author could have been so much more creative. I think he endorsed the vigilante style a bit too much this way.
