The story was fascinating and well told. The narration was an insult, particularly to Latinos (I am Hispanic). Mr. Vendetti couldn't be bothered to learn the correct way to pronounce Spanish names, places and words? I can't believe that the editors at Audible would approve such a dismal performance.
I've listened to literally hundreds of narrators on Audible. When I buy a book, I never really pay attention to the narrator, because they have consistently been terrific. Lesson learned. I'll preview the book before purchasing and NEVER purchase one that has Mike Vendetti as the narrator.
The subject has the potential to be something really special... the makings of a blockbuster. But Allende seems to have grabbed every cliche and phoned it in. Even Merkerson seems bored with the novel. Her sing-song delivery and uneven pacing makes listening tedious.
This is a poorly edited audible book for pilates. Pilates is meant to flow from movement to movement, building up and then cooling down. The way this audible book is edited, the exercise jump all over so you are doing movements before you have fully warmed up. Do not use this if you are new to pilates or do not know the sequences well enough to leave exercises out before you have fully warmed up.
