This sequel to the Hugo and Audie Award nominated METAtropolis features interconnected stories by today’s top writers of speculative fiction – performed by a galaxy of Star Trek stars. As the mid-20th century approaches, the Pacific Northwest has been transformed - politically, economically, and ecologically - into the new reality of Cascadia. Conspiracies and secrets threaten the tenuous threads of society. And the End of Days seems nearer than ever.

This does not quite live up to the original Metatropolis. The individual stories are not linked together as well. There are a couple of novellas that are harder to get into, and a few are not read as well. That being said, it is still very enjoyable. If you are a fan of Metatropplis, then this will be a welcome continuation. Just do not expect quite the same level of writing or performance.

Everyone wants to escape their boring, stagnant lives full of inertia and regret. But so few people actually have the bravery to run - run away from everything and selflessly seek out personal fulfillment on the other side of the world where they don’t understand anything and won’t be expected to. The world is full of cowards. Tim Anderson was pushing 30 and working a string of dead-end jobs when he made the spontaneous decision to pack his bags and move to Japan.

JOSEPH says: "Tune In Tokyo- a very enjoyable memior"

    Story

This is a fun history of an average guy getting out of a rut in middle America by going to teach English in Japan. If you are interested in Japan and like travel stories, you will probobly enjoy this. Sections are not family friendly, but as the voice of the book is that of a 20 something out on an adventure, that should probobly be expected.

The Mote In God's Eye is their acknowledged masterpiece, an epic novel of mankind's first encounter with alien life that transcends the genre. No lesser an authority than Robert A. Heinlein called it "possibly the finest science fiction novel I have ever read".

This is one of the sci-fi classics. Space battle, politics, and ethical questions are all over this book. If you enjoy those types of stories, then this should be a very enjoyable listen.

  • The Mists of Avalon

A posthumous recipient of the World Fantasy Award for Lifetime Achievement, Marion Zimmer Bradley reinvented - and rejuvenated - the King Arthur mythos with her extraordinary Mists of Avalon series. In this epic work, Bradley follows the arc of the timeless tale from the perspective of its previously marginalized female characters: Celtic priestess Morgaine, Gwenhwyfar, and High Priestess Viviane.

The Mists of Avalon is a modern classic. This version was cut at some odd points to create the separate audio files. This does not however detract from the quality of the reading. This would keep any fan of Arthurian legend happy for days.

Drawing on real-life anecdotes and scientific research that shows why the early hours of the day are so important, Vanderkam reveals how successful people use mornings to help them accomplish things that are often impossible to take care of later in the day.

    Story

If you like the other BSG books, then you will like this story as well. However, this book is not read by the same women who take on the characters in the other main Beacon Street Girls stories. This reader is ok, but she comes across as flat compared to the quality of the reading in the rest of the series.
