A story that flows, not this chopped up one we get to listen to. Also more dialogue between the characters. Nearly 5 hours of narration gets old.
No, but I will never buy another book by this author.
The only redeeming quality is that Anthony Ferguson was the narrator, he is a very talented narrator and I have enjoyed many books he has read.Too bad he had such a terrible story to read.Anthony Ferguson was the reason I purchased this book.
The first 5 hours of this book is all narration with practically no dialogue between characters. The story jumps around so much it is disconcerting. One minute the story is in a hospital and the next it is in a house without any connection or chapter break..New characters are introduced without any warning. One minute you are reading about the king and the next paragraph it jumps to new characters. This might be ok if reading but not for listening. At least there should be a new chapter to bring in things that at the time are not connected in any way. Overall this is not a well written book. The story is weak and so slow during the first 5 hours with hardly any dialogue. I did listen through to the end because I thought something was going to happen. What a disappointment. No surprises as it is easy to predict the story. I read a lot of PNR and this one falls very short. The others usually have me hanging on to hear what happens next. Also they have a lot of dialogue. Listening to this book it seems that a lot of the story was cut out. When finding out vampires exist there should be more than a 3 word sentence. Perhaps this is bad editing because it does seem that parts of the story had been cut out. I would not recommend this to anyone.
Nothing like Black Dagger Brotherhood. Sorry I wasted a credit. A lot of narration and little dialogue between characters. Uninteresting story, couldn't listen to it. I tried skipping through but it did not get any better. Seemed to just drag on and on. Not for me.
Yes, I am re listening to it right now. Just too good to read once.
Doyle is an excellent narrator. I believe he really brought the story to life.
Do not want to give away spoilers but I did nearly cry when one of the men is killed in and IRA attack. It is easy to get attached to McKinty"s characters.
I have read the entire series and each book is better than the previous one.
The angel, even though my heart ached over his choices and the consequences.
This book turned out to be much better than I expected. At first I felt that the narrators voice was too young for the character. As the story went on I didn't even notice it any longer. Angela Rysk does a great job with the various voices. The men sound like men. I highly recommend this book to any reader who enjoys PRN, or angel/demon books. You will not be disappointed. I am looking forward to Debra Dunbar's next book.
Yes, not publish the book..
Oliver Wyman is a great narrator, he performed Monster Hunters Inc. and it is great.I think he has done a very good job with the material he was given.
I listened to the audio version of this book. Part 1 was only ok. Part 2 I didn't get far into before quitting listening.Just too much back and forth boring chit chat, some "technical", seems to drag on.I noticed this in Part 1 but it wasn't too bad. A character is introduced near the end of Part 1. She is supposed to be some super brain, I got tired of listening to her go on and on.I am going to skip to the last chapter and see what happens. The premise is good unfortunately the story isn't so good.
WOW this book is as good as the rest of the series. I thought it might not be as good, however it didn't disappoint. If you liked the other books you will like this one also.In the story we get a reunion with a lot of the characters from the past, most enjoyable.I want more of Cat and Bones books with Tavia Gilbert as narrator.
Antony Ferguson is an excellent narrator.
This story is weak compared with her Immortal Guardians series. I could not get invested in the characters. It was more like a fairy tale "dragon slayer saves the princess" type of story.
I will give the next book in the series a chance since I loved the Immortal Guardians.
If Immortal Guardians was a dog I would say it was a German Shepard and Shields is a frou-frou lap dog.
This is a great story that must be described as Thriller/Adventure/Science. At first I was not sure this book was for me but I kept listening and am glad I did. There is so much packed into this story that I cannot relate it without giving spoilers. I will say keep with it, don't give up. There is a great sea adventure/battle that lasts a long time but is really good. This is not my usual genre, PNR. However I still loved this book and can recommend it to all readers who enjoy a good suspense/action/thriller/science story and even PN fans.
Romance, Fantasy, Science
He is an excellent narrator. I enjoy listening to his voice, he puts so much feeling into each character they really come alive.
Yes, but I would spoil the story for others is I were to explain it.
I did not want this to end. I was sad it did end and would love to see another book that continues on from this one. I know the author does not write sequels, but perhaps a future book about this family with flashbacks to the 15th century.
Yes. It is like Jules Verne meets HG Wells.
Excellent voices for the women. A lot of times male readers do a bad job with the women's voices.
Good read. Kept me interested and suspenseful.
