I'd recommend this book to a friend. It's easy to listen to, has good sound affects and simple story lines.
Jim French's voice is pleasing to my ear, medium range and doesn't get to high. I have sensitive hearing so that's important to me. I usually listen to this at night to go to sleep.
There are 6 short stories, none of them are better than the other, they are all of the same caliber.
There are no extreme highs or lows in this book, it's a very simple old fashioned detective series set in the 50's.
interesting gossipy book. the class system in England is outdated and creates bizarre intolerable behavior. maybe the monarchy has reached its end.
I have listened this book at least three times. the story is good and the narrator is wonderfully easy to listen to.
of course, for me the best part was the narrator. Hugh Fraser could read the phone book aloud and make it interesting.
the story was ridiculous , but that's why it's called fiction.
it dragged a little but not enough to make me want to quit listening.
a fun little listen.
A new narrator.
Maybe, I can't get to the story because I dislike the narrator so much.
His over blown accents, the way his voice kept changing volume. It was just plain bad.
I don't know, I could not get past the narrator.
Does Audible have people who vet these books?
Yes, I would not have bought it had I known it was abridged, I thought it was going to be a short story.
None, I disliked all of them , it's a lame romance story. It's not for knowledge seeking, it's just fun. Hated the son, what a rude, self centered child.
She is great, she manages to make any story good.
GET THE UNABRIDGED AND GIVE US ALL OUR CREDIT BACK TO BUY IT.
The first time the husband and wife team escaped death it was fun, the second time, not so much, the third time, boring. And the book was basically them meeting death and escaping...time and time again. BORING.
Do not know.
I would have asked for a rewrite, and I lot Clive Cussler a lot so that's a strong statement.
This book probably appeals to a certain type of person, I was just bored with all the guns fights and inane, improbable conversations.
I love Gothic Mysteries, I could not tell you what this one is about as the reading of it is so bad I simply could not stay with the story. I tried Three times to listen to this and never made past a few chapters, of which I slept through most.
Flat, toneless, no inflection, no life.
I wish I knew, the reader was so bad I couldn't stay with it.
I would love to hear this book with a different reader.
It's among my top 10 favorites. It's bizarre enough to appeal to me.
Tammy. She evolved into a real person. letting go of her obsession and her no good husband.
I like the way he reads, I know it's not for everyone, but he has an ironic note to his reading that fit this book to a tee.
Jerry. I would grill him...what was the payoff for setting this up? Would you do it again? Was it worth it?
Crazy book. Not what I expected but I grew to like it a lot. Like i say...it's fiction...not for education or enlightenment...just for fun.
