Mind numbing scrap. If there is a story line in this one, I didn't disearn it or maybe I just didn't want to sort it out.

When Chechen terrorists manage to smuggle a Cold War-era Russian nuke across the Mexican-American border, the president is forced to reactivate the only unit capable of stopping them: Navy SEAL sniper Gil Shannon and his brash team of SEALs and Delta Force fighters.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Because it could happen to us.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Because our fighting men take a back seat and basically or are second class citizens, nevertheless, when the rubber meets the road you can expect stellar performance. As far as the depiction of the seal community in the book, I believe this selfless service to be very close to real life.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The only part of the story line that was a redo is the part at the very end where they helo the nuke out to sea. Vince Flynn did this in one of his books.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I will say that it does move your emotions.

    Any additional comments?

Scott is right up there with Vince. George Guidall is my all time favorite reader.

No electricity. No running water. No food. No end in sight. If life as you knew it changed in an instant, would you be prepared? In A. American's first novel, Going Home, listeners were introduced to Morgan Carter, the resourceful, tough-as-nails survivalist who embarks on a treacherous 250-mile journey across Florida following the collapse of the nation's power grid. Now reunited with his loving wife and daughters in this follow-up to Going Home, Morgan knows that their happiness is fleeting, as the worst is yet to come.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I liked the story line. The book was hard to listen to because of the unnatural flow of words. This is one book that I would have enjoyed much better with Scott Brick or George reading.

Would you be willing to try another one of Duke Fontaine’s performances?

No way. Two was enough for me.

    Any additional comments?

I will listen to the samples much closer from now on. I will assume the crew in the final book all go down with the reader.

Where does Total Control rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Total Control is a masterful work by one of my favorite writers. You don't know what happened until the very last few chapters. The good are bad and the bad are good with the exception of one good agent.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Total Control?

When Agent Sawyer tells Gant where to get off.

What about Jonathan Marosz’s performance did you like?

His performance is transparent to the listener and doesn't get in the way of a very powerful story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

For me it didn't make me neither laugh or cry. There is a very strong female role who was the dominating character. Personally I have no problem with it. I often thing that females are stronger in curtain circumstances than males. Sydney is a woman that every man dreams about, but few find.

    Any additional comments?

Given the genre that goes along with my taste and interests, it is one of the best stories and if I may add one of the most unpredictable I have ever heard.

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

Would you listen to The Last Man again? Why?

Like all Vince Flynn novels the story flows. No factoids that sound like they read from a spec sheet like so many tech novels today. Just human interactions that are timeless and true to character. His books read like Baldacci or Grisham - like an engaging, action-packed story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dr. Kennedy she is Rap's boss and the DCI of CIA. She is the mind behind Rap who is tough and gets the job done. Rap is the muscle.

Which character – as performed by George Guidall – was your favorite?

George Guidall is the best of the best. No one can touch him. He performs so that all the characters are their own. I never get confused about who is speaking or doing something in the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Dr. Kennedy caught that FBI piece of crap trying to get into see Rap in the hospital.

    Any additional comments?

Bad guys you love to hate makes the Rap series so good.

Before he was considered a CIA superagent, before he was thought of as a terrorists worst nightmare, and before he was both loathed and admired by the politicians on Capitol Hill, Mitch Rapp was a gifted college athlete without a care in the world . . . and then tragedy struck.

From the two Masters. What else could you expect? Vince Flynn and George Guidall both masters of their realms. I was glad to pay for this one when I usually wait for a library copy.
