I was born in 1946 after WWII but it was a big part of my parents life and learned much about it over the years. I like the human part of this story. Bringing in the human element is not often done in books about this war. It was needed and incredible. In the last part of this story, I cried a lot. I needed to do that and the story was incredible, not to mention the author notes at the end of the book. It is totally special and a time in our history that we can be proud of. That doesn't seem to be the case with today's wars. I'm not certain why that it because our men and women in the Middle East deserve all of the best we have to give them. Read this book, consume it and get into the human's in this incredible story. Get it, consume it and cry about it. I cry for our soldiers today also.
Yes, this one is a definite again and again book. Koontz is such an excellent writer and a way with wit and humor throughout. Sometimes I had to laugh out loud. Sometimes cried.
Can't think of any at the moment.
All of them. There was not one boring moment in this book. I almost wanted to start it again just after finishing it.
Experiences of love and laughter through my dog.
I will be advising everyone I know to listen to this book. This is a book that has got to be better in the audio form than reading it the conventional way. The narrator did excellent job on it also. Great inflections for the humor etc.
I've listened to about 400 books in the last 3 years. This whole series of the Presidential Agent is at least in the top two books in a series. Every booki in this series is relevant and the characters have developed so well since the beginning book. I love every one of them.
I listen to too many books to make a comparison against one. Well developed characters and great suspense and action and story lines. I already await the next one.
Dick Hill is one of the best and particularly well suited to this series. Love his portral of all of the main characters but Charlie and Fernando are probably my favorites. The previous book in this series was not read by Dick Hill and it totally killed it for me and many others. Dick Hill
Lots of suspense and there is always some sarcastic humor in this series. Love every minute of it.
I just hate waiting for a year or more for the next one. Griffin is involved in so many series, which are all good, but this series has always been my favorite
I got this book recently on a sale on Audible. The reviews were great and since there are animals in it, I went for it. Even though the subject of this book is quite devastating and serious, there is some very good humor there in all the right places. You will begin to feel that you are the one experiencing this incredible adventure. Sometimes you will laugh out loud and sometimes you will want to cry for the incredible dilemma the author is in. I loved the telling of how the Bengal Tiger, Richard Parker, got his name. I will listen to this book again sometime for certain. The narration was great also. Well desering of the awards this book has won. Buy it and enjoy.
I found this series by accident. I love the narrator so I searched other books he has narrated in the past. Since I also love westerns I snatched up the whole series of 4 on the same day. These are a must to read in order. This one is the first, then The Hondo Kid, The Prodigal Brother, and The Family. Haven't read a western this good since Lonesome Dove. I totally hated to see the series end and am still hoping there might be another addition to it in the future. It's hard for me to fathom that these were written by a semi-retired professional wrestler. They are extremely well done and I will definitely read this series again and again in the future. The characters are wonderfully developed and you will feel as though you know each of them personally. Buy all 4 and you will not want to put down your iPod.
This is an incredible book. I did not want it to end. There must be more to tell and hope there is another in continuance of this one. The narrators were totally awesome which very seldom happens when using multiple narrators in the same book. Laughing, crying, fearful and a whole gamut of emotions in this book. I've never listened to a book more realistic and well done than this one. I could not put it down. It ended too quickly. Very possibly what I would consider the best book I have listened to which is in the hundreds. Buy it and enjoy the ride!
I loved this book. I do not agree at all with the few reviews who felt it was selfish and political. It is no secret that wounded vets have had a problem getting the type of treatment they need and the benefits they deserve. This has been happening since Vietnam. And PTSD is the most difficult to treat. Very few escape the PTSD at one level or another. After reading the book, I was totally disappointed in those who gave bad reviews. The book is about a very personal experience of one of our men in the military. There are hundreds of thousands dealing with many of the same issues from Iraq and Afghanistan. These wars seem to go on forever and they are taking a huge toll, particularly mentally. I hope that Luis writes another book about his continued progress and his life with Tuesday. I will read it and appreciate all of it. Very special book. Well written and I'm also very glad that Luis narrated the book himself. That made it even more personal. I will read this again one day and hope there is another to follow.
