To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters - never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.

I really enjoyed this series. I was thinking while I was listening to them they were wordy but I am a VERY impatient person and hate/love suspense so it was killing me not knowing what was going to happen next which actually made them great! I had a few of those, "well I didn't see that coming" moments. I liked the fact there were no long drawn out very explicit sex scenes. I can only listen to those so much before I just want to skip over them! These books kind of reminded me of the Twilight Series in a way. I would recommend them.

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership. In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires?

I loved this audiobook. I was worried when I read some of the reviews about the narrator but I have lots of unused credits so I thought I'd give it a try and I am so glad I did! I liked the narrator ok. I have heard much worse. The book was great. This is now one of my favorite books. I am so ready for the second book but I don't think it will be out on audio until November! UGH! UGH! UGH! Can't that be hurried up! I can't wait that long!

I listened to about 2 hours of this and was so confused and had no idea how the characters came to be where they were or why or what was happening. I can usually get a mental picture of what I am reading which makes a good book to me but w/this book I couldn't picture the characters or what was happening and frankly didn't want to after my 2 hours of confusion. I was so disappointed because I had such high expectations. I think I will wait next time until other reviews come out before I jump into wasting my credits on something new unless I know the author(s).

About three things I was certain. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him, and I didn't know how dominant that part might be, that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

I am listening to the series for the SECOND time and finding things I had forgotten or missed the first time. I am 39 years old and maybe remembering my "younger, wilder" days and maybe this is why I am really enjoying the books so much but I do think they are great. I am having trouble finding another series I want to listen to that I think I will enjoy as much. One thing I like about the books is there is not a lot of cursing and no long drawn out explicit sex scenes that would embarrass me even in my car driving by myself! I am really looking forward to Midnight Sun coming out...eventually...hopefully.

After listening to the "Twilight" series, I hate to say I am a little disappointed in the narrator picked for this book. I was hoping the narrator for this book and the "Twilight" series would be the same. I don't really like when women read a man's character with a "gravelish" sounding voice. The Wanderer and Melanie sound the same later in the book so it is a bit hard to figure out who is talking at times. But, being that I just finished the "Twilight" series and jumped right into the "Host," I think maybe my expectations may have been really high for the book and I may be a little disappointed in the book as a whole. I think I will go back and listen to the "Twilight" Series again!
