November 1958, New York. Into the rarefied atmosphere of wealth and tradition at the National Horse Show in Madison Square Garden comes the most unlikely of horses—a drab white former plow horse named Snowman—and his rider, Harry de Leyer. They were the longest of all longshots—and their win was the stuff of legend.

What did you love best about The Eighty-Dollar Champion?

That it was a true story. I didn't realize this until the end, wish I had know at the begining of the book would have made a difference to me.

Would you recommend The Eighty-Dollar Champion to your friends? Why or why not?

    Have already recommended to my

What does Bronson Pinchot bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think hearing it makes you get a better mental picture of what is going on, he's a good reader.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

yes but I want share, may ruin it for others.

    Any additional comments?

At times it got a little long, too much details on bits and such that most horse people already know but it still kept my interest all the way through and it was a long book.

What did you love best about Fire by Night?

Sharing of God's word through the lives of the characters, the beginning of new life in Christ, and the laughter at the end made me rush to purchase the last book in the series. I must say it will be hard for another to stand up to this one! great listen!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Starting out with total dislike of Julia's character to a great respect before the book was over and Ike/Phoebe was terrific! You can't help but love her all the way to the very end and that left me laughing out loud! It was if I knew her personally!

What about Christina Moore’s performance did you like?

She was great also, she was able to change her voice to the point that you had the character totally pictured in your mind, it was as if you knew them!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES! And almost did! I tried to save it and make it last it was sad to me when it ending because I wanted to go on with the lives in the book! I wasn't ready to give them up.

    Any additional comments?

I'm almost dreading to begin the last book in this series because I really doubt the next one will stand up to this one. I liked the first one enough to buy the second one but wouldn't buy the 3rd one until i listened to this one because I was afraid I wouldn't want another one. If the first book had been this good I"m sure I would have purchased book 2 and 3 at the same time.
This book was really one I throughly enjoyed.
Thank you Lynn Austin and Christina Moore! You make a good team!

Mattie convinces one-eyed "Rooster" Cogburn, the meanest U.S. marshal in the land, to ride along with her. Is there anything you would change about this book?

If you like science fiction/time travel type stories this is a good one I guess. I'm not really into that didn't realize what it was when i purchased it but it did keep my attention and I did listen all the way to the end so it wasn't something I didn't enjoy it was just way out there.
Language not good at times but not a constant thing just in parts.

Would you recommend Lightning to your friends? Why or why not?

probably not because of the sometimes bad language and just not something I think would appeal to them but to others that enjoy science fiction i'm sure it is a good book.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Again, this is not something you would ever want to purchase and listen to unless you don't mind hearing filthy language. I started out on a trip with my husband and we were going to listen to this thinking the story line was a good one. To our disappointment we didn't through the first few chapters and we realized this was not for us!! The sad thing is I had purchased this one and also "The Search" and they were both the same way, such filthy language I've never heard. So disappointing! Never again will I purchase anything by Nora Roberts! What a waste of good money!

Would you ever listen to anything by Nora Roberts again?

    NEVER!

Would you be willing to try another one of Julia Whelan’s performances?

    yes, she was fine

What character would you cut from The Witness?

It wasn't the characters it was the language they used, I really believe like "The Search" this would have been a great book had you been able to get past the language. There is never a reason to use our Lord's name in vain or the other nasty things they used. This in no way made the story better rather it destroyed a very creative storyline.

    Any additional comments?

Sorry I wasted my credits but I learned my lesson.

To most people, Fiona Bristow seems to have an idyllic life — a quaint house on an island off Seattle’s coast, a thriving dog-training school, and a challenging volunteer job performing canine search and rescue. This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Unless you do not mind filthy language this book will not be for anyone. I was so disgusted, from what of it I was able to stomach and listen to the story line was great, would have loved to hear what happened but there is no excuse for that type language. I do hope there are not human beings on this earth that uses everyday language like she used in this book. I was so disappointed, and to think I bought two at one time!! I had also purchased The Witness and it's proving to be the same way. I will NEVER EVER purchase anything by Nora Roberts again. I know in the past I've read some of her books and they were not like this.
I only gave it a star so I could write a review and warn others of the trashy content.

What was most disappointing about Nora Roberts’s story?

I think the story would have been a very good one, there was no need in the filthy language at all.

What didn’t you like about Tanya Eby’s performance?

She was fine, didn't seem at all to bother her to read that type language.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    No

    Any additional comments?

I do wish Audio books had ratings like movies, just the small sample you get to hear seldom has the bad language in it then you start the book and oh my goodness, such filth!

Would you listen to The Secret Keeper again? Why?

Yes, I plan to, I'm thinking I may have missed some details now and want to go back now that I know the surprise ending and listen again.

What other book might you compare The Secret Keeper to and why?

Haven't listened to anything this good in a while, couldn't wait to hear the ending but didn't want it to end!!

Have you listened to any of Caroline Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first but I've just loaded my wish list with Kate Morton and Caroline Lee!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, but it would give too much away to say, toward the end you will understand when the light comes on in your head!!

    Any additional comments?

I'm really glad all the audio books don't keep me in suspense like this one did I would never get anything done! Some books I can listen to while I work but this one I would find myself stopping to really pay attention. I didn't want to miss anything!

For PR guru-turned-advice-columnist Waverly Bryson, life is pretty sweet. She has an amazing job, a devoted boyfriend, and the best friends a girl could hope for. Things couldn’t possibly be better - or so she thinks - until she receives an offer to turn her popular advice column into a regular guest spot on national television. The new gig means moving cross-country to New York to work for a woman who can’t stand her, not to mention leaving her best friends, Andie and McKenna, behind while still missing her already-too-long-distance boyfriend, Jake.

I enjoy the characters, can't wait to see what is happening next. Once I really get into listening I don't want to quit!

    Which scene was your favorite?

Too many to name just one, there were times I was in tears and then in stitches of laughter could she at times remind me of myself and my years as a single woman trying to find my way in the world?? I don't know...and the sweet relationship she has with her dad really works my heart strings.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I just hope this is not the end to Waverly, I enjoy her character too much. Not sure how much further she can take her but I do hope it's a little bit more!

If you could sum up An Amish Christmas in three words, what would they be?

    good but not best

Would you be willing to try another book from the authors? Why or why not?

All the authors were good except the last one, after listening & reading really good writers of Amish literature you just expect more, realistic, true to life writings.

Have you listened to any of Christian Taylor’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She was good, and this was my first listen of her I think.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Come live with the Amish

    Any additional comments?

Gave it 4 stars because the first 3 books were really good in the collections, the last one was really lacking, had to trudge through it all the time thinking it would be better. The first one are defiantly worth listening to.

Leave something for your imagination, don't have to spell out all the sex actions, it really didn't add anything to the story line to have such details

Has Scandalous Again turned you off from other books in this genre?

pretty much, and that is sad because I'd love to see what happens in the series, just can't decide if I'll try another one or not

    Any additional comments?

The story line is good, enjoyed most of it had some really good parts, the performance was great just hate to give 5 stars to anything with such detailed sexual experiences when is't not necessary to have a good story. Another perfect example of people thinking "sex sales" in todays society....that is sad to me.
