Julia Hamill has made a horrifying discovery on the grounds of her new home in rural Massachusetts: a skull buried in the rocky soil human, female, and, according to the trained eye of Boston medical examiner Maura Isles, scarred with the unmistakable marks of murder.

What did you like best about The Bone Garden? What did you like least?

I liked the history the best - I liked the pseudo feminist tone least

Would you recommend The Bone Garden to your friends? Why or why not?

No - it's milk sop and lacks teeth

How could the performance have been better?

I the performer were less delicate - she should read classics for women. All the older male voices sound like Judd Hirsch - some Jewish New Yorker not really getting the Boston sound

Did The Bone Garden inspire you to do anything?

    No

West Hall, Vermont, has always been a town of strange disappearances and old legends. The most mysterious is that of Sara Harrison Shea, who, in 1908, was found dead in the field behind her house just months after the tragic death of her daughter, Gertie. Now, in present day, 19-year-old Ruthie lives in Sara's farmhouse with her mother, Alice, and her younger sister, Fawn. Alice has always insisted that they live off the grid, a decision that suddenly proves perilous when Ruthie wakes up one morning to find that Alice has vanished without a trace. Searching for clues, she is startled to find a copy of Sara Harrison Shea's diary....

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Simplify the plot. Auntie wouldn't give Sarah the power to raise the dead because it's a curse -so the basic premise makes no sense especially after their closeness is established. Too many plot lines too many characters when what you're going for is a good witchy ghost story. Too many irrelevant details.

What other book might you compare The Winter People to and why?

Snowblind - another winter based over thought ghost story.

What aspect of Cassandra Campbell and Kathe Mazur ’s performance would you have changed?

Too romantic sounding, something overly pronounced, sentimental

Was The Winter People worth the listening time?

    not really

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    So predictable. So lame.

Has Fevre Dream turned you off from other books in this genre?

    Just too predictable

What does Ron Donachie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great character actor amazing vocal control. Way above this tripe.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fevre Dream?

I would have rewritten it to be about the gothic of the south and some other layers of mystical perversion. The area is so witchy why not really go into a Fever Dream instead of an Anne Rice rip off.

    Mona

Would you try another book from Nora Roberts and/or Julia Whelan?

I would try another book from Ms. Whelan but I will never give Roberts another go.

What do you think your next listen will be?

The Temporal Void by Peter F Hamilton

What does Julia Whelan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    She's a talented actress

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I would describe this book as - Semi autistic trauma survivor does her rendition of 'Are You There God it's Me Margaret'. This book sparked a reaction of annoyance in me that an adult woman would write this for other adults. I am finishing it but I've fast forwarded through large portions of it. Ridiculously cliched. I would have enjoyed it more if it focused more on the action less on the romance.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Make the lines between magical realism and the real clearer. Don't apply rational ideas to magical realism and don't lend magic to the moments of reality.

Life was good for Matt and Chloe. They were in love and looking forward to their new baby. But what Chloe gave birth to isn’t a baby. It isn’t even human. It’s an entirely new species that uses humans only for food—and as hosts for their young. As Matt soon learns, though, he is not alone in his terror. Women all over town have begun to give birth to these hideous creatures, spidery nightmares that live to kill—and feed. As the infestation spreads and the countryside is reduced to a series of web-shrouded ghost towns, will the survivors find a way to fight back?

What did you like best about this story?

The descriptive and colloquial language. The character development.

What didn’t you like about Lyssa Graham’s performance?

This needed to be read by an Englishman. It's really the producer's fault kind of an expensive and unfortunate mistake on a bit of a no brainer.

If you could take any character from Breeding Ground out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Chester. I prefer the company of animals to humans.
