On July 1-3, 2011, Marianne Williamson taught a workshop on A Course in Miracles in Los Angeles, California. The topic of the weekend was how miracles - shifts in thinking from fear to love - make all the difference in how we live and how we feel. Learning to think differently - to stand psychologically and emotionally on a different ground of being - is the spiritual journey from anxiety to inner peace.

Would you try another book from Marianne Williamson and/or Marianne Williamson?

Don't waste your money. She seems to be all over the place. Had some great points right at the beginning and that kept me intrigued but 1hr into the book I found it a waste of my time. I kept waiting for her to say something that would be worth the time I was investing, unfortunately that never happened. It was slow and painful to listen to.

Would you ever listen to anything by Marianne Williamson again?

    NO!

There's an old saying: if you eat a live frog first thing each morning, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that it's probably the worst thing you'll do all day. Using "eat that frog" as a metaphor for tackling the most challenging task of your day, the one you are most likely to procrastinate on, but also the one that might have the greatest positive impact on your life, Eat That Frog! shows you how to zero in on these critical tasks and organize your day.

If you could sum up Eat That Frog! in three words, what would they be?

    Short but Superb

What did you learn from Eat That Frog! that you would use in your daily life?

Get the hard stuff over with first ... that is probably where you'll get the most return. Don't waste your time on the easy stuff with low importance.

In Fitness Confidential, Vinnie tells all.

Would you listen to Fitness Confidential again? Why?

Absolutely!! He was really interesting to listen to. Had lots of personal and professional experience that he shares with reader. Really fun to hear all the tangents he goes on, that he doesn't have in the hard copy version.

Had lots of practical advice. Some that goes against what the trend for healthy eating is presently. But his way of living sounds like something you could do long term and still be healthy.

Will definitely be listening to this book again.

What about Vinnie Tortorich’s performance did you like?

Loved it! I don't think the book would have had the same impact if he wasn't the one reading it.

easy ideas to use right away, would have really liked unabridged - lots of great points

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Steve Chandler?

though he has some great ideas his presentation is very monotonous, if you can get passed that then this is a good quick listen

What would have made Fury of Ice better?

A different narrator would have been a good first step. Though the story itself was slow and hard to keep listening to ... due to so many positive reviews I kept listening waiting for it to pick up and get more interesting. Paranormal books are my favourite way to escape into another world for a short while, this book didn't fit the bill at all. I'm going back to the old fashioned way of reading paranormal books.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Definitely nothing from this author or narrator !

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The book had sexy characters and scenes and I felt I was listening to my grandfather talk about "harder" "faster" and well suffice to say I looked forward to the intimate scenes to be over as it was plain awkward! And hearing what sounded like an elderly gentleman use swearing words, just didn't have the impact I imagine the author was going for :(

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Where is the fast forward button!

Every year, the average American eats 33 pounds of cheese (triple what we ate in 1970) and 70 pounds of sugar (about 22 teaspoons a day). We ingest 8,500 milligrams of salt a day, double the recommended amount, and almost none of that comes from the shakers on our table. It comes from processed food. It’s no wonder, then, that one in three adults, and one in five kids, is clinically obese.

Where does Salt Sugar Fat rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the most informative books I've read thus far, very eye opening.

What did you like best about this story?

    Very interesting story telling

    Any additional comments?

I thought this book was going to be a nutritional type of book, but it turned out to be a book about how the industry giants create foods, processed foods ... profit is driving them, not health of consumers. We all know that to some extent, but having someone lay out the facts brings to light how horribly unhealthy foods many of us eat are ... a must read for anyone who is concerned about their health. I think I'll be listening to it again real soon. Am now listening to the China Study and that is amazing as well!!

Would you listen to Healing Your Emotional Self again? Why?

Absolutely! I think you need to listen more than once as there is so much "work" to do with each chapter, internal reflection. Loved all the examples the author brought into the story telling.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

That parental abuse comes in many forms. I'd typically thought of abuse as physical, sexual or of neglectful parent ... hadn't really thought of critical, rejecting or emotional absentee parent would fall in that category.

    Any additional comments?

At times I found hard to listen to as it brought up feelings I hadn't realized I'd been harbouring. But by the end of the book I felt I had my eyes opened and look forward to working on the exercises the author has at the end of each chapter.

Since the introduction of dietary guidelines calling for reduced fat intake in the 1970s, a strange phenomenon has occurred: Americans have steadily, inexorably become heavier, less healthy, and more prone to diabetes than ever before. After putting more than two thousand of his at-risk patients on a wheat-free regimen and seeing extraordinary results, cardiologist William Davis has come to the disturbing conclusion that it is not fat, not sugar, not our sedentary lifestyle that is causing America’s obesity epidemic—it is wheat.

Would you listen to Wheat Belly again? Why?

I already have listened to it twice. Lots of information.

    Any additional comments?

Amazing how much we don't know about how food affects us. Very well written, though tends to get technical and sometimes felt I needed to go back to listen again to understand. Would have been nice to have the recipes to go along with this book. As it feels I now have lots of information but no recipes or plan of how to achieve a gluten free eating plan.
